Pierce 16.790.345
Rondo 11.000.000
Bradley 1.630.800
Johnson 1.089.240
Moore 762.195 (team option, final date to exercise it 15 or 30 July)
Williams 915.852 (team option, final date to exercise it on august 1)
#21 pick 1.306.920 (120% of rookie scale)
#22 pick 1.254.720 (120% of rookie scale)
2nd rounder 473.604
cap holds 1.500.000

Stiemsma QO 1.054.389 (I expect Stiemsma to get a higher offer that Boston don't match, not that high offer but somewhere around 3M which is too much on our cap space)

36.723.676 $M (not counting Stiemsma's QO)

We would be just over 21M under the cap if it's the same as the 11-12 season, if the cap is 61M just like it was reported to be we would almost roughly 24M in cap space.

Guys like Sean Williams aren't guaranteed to stay IMO, we could also trade both our 1st round picks for a lottery pick, but the salaries events out if it's a top 10 pick.

Bradley should be safe IMO, Johnson and Moore could be fillers and/or teams asking for one of them.

We have enough for one max contract in either situation but with the renouncing of our free agents: Green,KG,Bass,Pietrus,Allen,Wilcox etc. The two guys I want back from those are KG and Green.

Bass is gone, Allen likewise. Maybe Wilcox could get less than 3M, maybe the salary cap exception, it's between him or Pietrus.

But with Allen gone we need a backup SG for Bradley so I want Pietrus back. Green backup Pierce.

If we somehow got Josh Smith with his trade kicker makes roughly 15M, we'd have 6 to 9M to spend on Green,KG.

Add 2M if JJJ,Moore,Williams,2 picks are traded etc. Contracts substracted, cap holds added. More or less.

We have free agents to look at IMO:

Eric Gordon
Javale McGee
Roy Hibbert

I'm not sure either of those guys are Danny Ainge targets but I'd like Ainge to push their teams to overspend for these guys, especially the Pacers and Bird.

A guy I would at least speak too is Deron Williams, try to arrange a meeting with him. He isn't likely to come to Boston as a free agent especially with Rondo here but you have to do that.

Other players that are 2nd tier free agents like Beasley,Landry,Gerald Wallace,Nicolas Batum,Chris Kaman shoud be discussed with, not sure we will do anything spectacular this offseason tbh.
We have cap space this year and maybe next year.

Ainge has the amnesty card and he isn't afraid to trade Pierce or Rondo, i'm not sure we could get a big name star the next 10 years as a free agent.

So we have to get into the lottery to find a star, either to be bad for a few years or convince free agents to come here, so we have to start getting 2nd tier stars like Josh Smith to attract bigger names or trade Rondo and/or Pierce.

I want them to get into the lottery without their having to get into the lottery, if you will.

And this is the year they've got the chips to move up, between their current three picks and the possibility of a Pierce trade that would also free up salary.

Fingers crossed.

I feel like you talked a lot, but didn't actually tell me anything.

Bottom line:  We're better off avoiding cap space and just re-signing everyone using bird rights.

The evil move would be to amnesty Pierce.  I don't think people would be very happy about that, though

The most unrealistic part of the post was making the assumption that 6-9 mil might be enough for KG AND Green.  Probably enough for Green but not for KG.  And no way in hell enough for both.

I love how some people seem to think that amnestying Paul Pierce would be a smart move... but trading Rondo for an asset and signing Deron Williams is somehow crazy talk.
