Good point guys, Jeff Green probably will start at 4.
If he plays at less than stand out levels out of position though, don't write him off as an average player.
If I was Jeff Green, I'd probably want to go to a team that needed a starting 3, play well for a year, and get the nice contract he deserves.
I really dont see Jeff Green starting at the 4. Ainge and Doc have both made it clear that he was out of position in OKC and that they intend for him to be a 3. They have even suggested him starting over pierce, Although I dont see that happening.
I think the most realistic lineup for next year is something like this....
Rondo [36 mpg] / dooling, andre miller, or kirk hinrich type player [12 mpg]
Bradley [32 mpg] / Rookie [16 mpg]
Pierce [28 mpg] / Green [20 mpg]
Free agent starting PF, hopefully Illyasova or Humphries [ 30 mpg] / Green [15 mpg] / Garnett [3 mpg]
Garnett [25 mpg] / wilcox [15 mpg] / rookie big [8 mpg]
or in an ideal situation, ray comes back on the cheap to take up the rookie minutes at the 2 gaurd, and takes 5 of bradleys minutes too, giving him around 20-25 minutes. And instead of playing wilcox and a rookie big minutes at the center, maybe we can find a way to get Kaman for cheap. Unlikely that we get both ray and a quality center though.
I think we will let bass walk now that he has declined his option. We need to create more minutes for Green, and I think Green can do many of the things Bass did at the 4. Even though Bass is more of a typical 4, his value essentially came from jumpshots.
Of course, maybe garnett retires and then I have no idea what happens. But as long as Pierce and Garnett are back and Ray is gone, this is definitely what I see happening. Go after a solid PF in freeagency, and try to draft a SG who is capable of playing some solid minutes.
