Haha, offering up a fax number is a real power move.

I agree, honestly, I never really paid to much attention to that song other than the harvard baseball video, but I was at a country music concert saturday night and they played that song in between acts and the place went nuts.  Kinda funny that such a wide variety of people seem to really like that song.

They've crossed the sarcasm line. People sarcastically pretended to like Call Me, Maybe, like some kind of inside joke.

The sarcastic plays at parties and bars allowed a medium to reach people who actually like the song.

The sarcastic praise for the song validated those who really liked the song, while confusing people who weren't in on the joke, making them pretend to like the song.

Its like 'Fight For Your Right' all over again.

I follow your logic and agree with it up until that last line. Eventually people will get over 'Call Me, Maybe' and when it dies I don't expect it to surface again. Because it already is a lifeless zombie feeding on the blood of the innocent*.

'Fight for Your Right' is a great song.

The point is that Fight For Your Right was meant to be a throw-away song, a joke against the hair-metal anthems of the time. Nobody got the joke (including me, I had to be told it was satire).

Fair enough. I've been on a huge Beastie Boys kick since MCA's passing, and also have gotten really, really tired of everything 'Call Me Maybe' related so I was pretty ready to make the distinction.

Well, Redz has had a couple of hours, I doubt he'd want to hold it up any more. He'll pick whenever he gets done eating BBQ.

Oh wow. I don't know how many fictional Olympic Gold winners there are out there, but that's outside the box if I ever saw it.

Unrelated, just got a call from Celtics ticket office.

Left a voicemail asking me if I enjoyed the Nets tickets I bought (I didn't, they traded for Deron Williams like the day before the game). Wondering if season ticket sales are way down, can't recall being contacted directly before.

I'll be impressed when you get a guy on there who says, "Heyyyyyy babe...just thinkin' about you. Just seein' how you're doin. I know we haven't seen each other in a while, but I was hoping to meet up. Maybe for a Bobcats game next February?"
