Oh well...can't get too shook up , mamma said ....there are more fish in the sea. I liked Brandon...he saved us from another year of Da Big Baby.(frustration). Bass has limited skills.  Probally is better as a role player than starter.

I'll be surprized if DA puts much effort into signing him . Maybe this will work out for bringing Ray Allen back.

Well this certainly throws a wrench into the whole 'get-things-sorted-quickly-so-we-can-get-KG-in-here' plan.

You'd think that if BB is willing to listen to offers in the $5 million dollar range then Danny will hang around the negotiating table.  But if indications are he's getting interest in anything more then i think Danny walks away early in the process.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Bass and a second rounder for Jason Thompson? :P

The Kings management might be dump enough to do it.

This should not be surprising at all.  After Bass' performance as a starter this season, no agent worth his salt would advise his client to accept the one-year option especially when considering the lack of depth in this year's pool of free agents.

Also, in the comments Bass made after game 7, I'm pretty sure he said something along the lines of "I hope to be back" or "I'd definitely like to be back" NOT "I'm not opting out."  That means he'd like the Cs to give him a nice long contract offer.  Knowing DA that's not likely.

Bass is a very good role player for a veteran team.  My gut feeling is besides PP and Rondo this team will be very very young next year.

This frees up valuable cap space for Ersan Ilyasova, who IMO would be a much better starter than Bass.

As long as we keep Jeff Green I have no problem with Bass leaving because Green can do everything Bass can do and then some.

Are we sure of that?? Are we sure he is coming back healthy and ready to get after it? That concerns me.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

not surprising but a little disappointing.

Can't blame him for wanting 26 mill/4 years if that's actually what he's shooting for.  He had a pretty good year for the C's and this is the time for him to cash in.  having said that, those contract terms are what you give a good starting PF, not a guy better suited to coming off the bench and playing 18-20 minutes a game.
Boo, I was hoping he'd decide to stay despite it little sense for me.

I don't want to have him long term and I doubt we'll find a better backup at his option price on a one year deal.

Ah well.
I love the job he did for us as a bench guy moved into starting role.  HOWEVER, I'd rather his new contract numbers were put into resigning stiesma .  If JJJ can offer us the jump shot that Bass has (we know he can) and play defense as well as bass then its easy to let him walk.  To me if JJJ can get the defense rotations down he's a better player, bass has good 10-15 jumper is physical down low and can run floor.  JJJ can hit the jumper, block shots and run.  Greg with a year under his belt and health can start with kg at pf.  I do appreciate what Bass gave us this year but I doubt danny puts too much of a contract on the table.  Many teams/gms out there will overpay for him (see glenn davis saga)

No way KG comes back to Boston if he's starting alongside Greg Steimsma

why not, he is back in position he wants to play (pf) he has complimented greg this season and put in a hope they resign him
we can a big on the bench of quality or go after humphries or Ersan Ilyasova as starting pf if ray's money is on table as well as bass' and kg can play center

A good quality team can get away with one player who is lesser if Greg was to start at center much like perk.

1. Jeff Green is not a power forward.

2. Jeff Green isn't as good a shooter as Bass.

3. Jeff Green is going to command more money than Bass.

Jeff Green is a backup power forward on a running team
Jeff Green is as good a shooter as Bass, who can also create his own shots
Jeff Green isn't going to command more money than Bass (this is a good thing)
Green can play 2 positions well, could start at sf for PP, passes better and what was Bass rebounding average this year as a starter? got it 5.3

3. Jeff Green is going to command more money than Bass.

1. Bass is barely a power forward, Green plays a couple of positions.  Not always well.
2. Jeff Green is substantially more skilled offensively then Bass.
3. Green is worth more money and has better value for the dollar amount than Bass ever will.

He was very good at being average. Not worth more than 4 million a year. Let him go.

I think everyone was convinced he'd be back with the team. Opting out and coming back are not mutually exclusive.
