This thread is more of a throw it on the wall and see what sticks kind of deal rather than a solid idea; but I've been hearing a lot, obviously about the Celtics and Josh Smith and also about Tyreke Evans. Does anyone see any way we could acquire them both without giving up Bradley or Rondo? There would have to be loud rumblings from both Evans' and Smith's camps to be dealt so that we could get them discounted, and even still I don't see how we would have the pieces to get it done without RR and Bradley.

Smith has strongly hinted if not flat out told the media he would like to go to the Celtics while there are rumors that after a disappointing season, Evans would like out. Apparently he doesn't get along with DeMarcus Cousins and he's the one of the pair of them that the Kings could realistically be shopping. If it gets desperate enough in ATL and Sacramento, could anybody see the Celtics shipping Brandon Bass and Jeff Green to the Hawks for Josh Smith and then packaging the 21st and 22nd pick to the 13th pick which the Suns may be shopping and then packaging the 13th pick with JJJ for Tyreke Evans? Neither are very plausible but certainly the most plausible, IMO, if we were to get them both.

More realistically I can see us dealing Jeff Green and one or both of our picks to Sacramento for Evans and with a core of Bradley, Rondo, Evans and Doc in place Smith would almost be a lock to sign. Still it's fun to think about having all those guys next year.

Oh, and lastly: I wouldn't start Evans if he came to the Celts. I think Bradley knows the system and has proven to mesh very well with the starting lineup and I'm not about to cause turbulence in the locker room by inserting Evans for Pierce at the three (plus Evans is slightly undersized for the three). If he was too young to listen to Doc and KG and the rest of the vets about playing his role, the growing glitz and glam of the sixth man position with the likes of Harden, Ginobili and Terry all tearing it up off the bench certainly helps our chances of convincing a young guy like Evans to embrace his role.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

It would be tough to get J-Smooth and Tyreke in the same trade, and the C's don't have enough parts yet to make a deal. Here are some steps:

1) Sign Kris Humphries and Delonte West

2) Re-Sign Pietrus

3) Re-Sign Bass

4) Re-Sign KG

5) Trade Humphries, Pietrus, and 21st pick for Smith and Ivan Johnson.

6) Trade KG, 22nd draft pick, D. West for Tyreke Evans and Hassan Whiteside

Now in the end the Celtics look like:

STARTERS:
Rondo
Bradley/Evans
Pierce
Smith
Ivan Johnson (fix that later)

RESERVES:
Bradley/Evans
Hassan Whiteside
Jajuan Johnson
Brandon Bass

It's not flawless, the C's would loose both draft picks, KG, Humphries, Pietrus, and West, but it is a much younger team from 2011-2012 with much more potential. I doubt it will be a playoff contending season but above 500 for sure and we still have the cap space to make a splash this free agency.

No way would I trade Bass and Green for Smith this year when you could wait a year and get him. And no way would I do  Green and picks for Evans. Green and Evans is a wash, we have  a 2 (Bradely, but after next season we don't have a 3.

I know people give Green crap, but this guy avg 15 a game behind Durant and Westbrook. Im not saying he'll score 30, but with Rondo being more of a passing PG and Green will run (more than PP has been) he can score around 20. Some tape from summer he was playing like a beast.

If Bass wants more since he's opted out, they could maybe get him and some one else Pf or C that would equal JS. Or any other player that rather play in Atlanta than Boston for some strange reason...

Sorry but you can't sign a FA (like Humphries) and then trade him.  Plus there's no way you would trade KG after signing him come on now... This isn't playstation....

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Besides, Brandon doesnt want to play with Rondo any longer - I wonder who wants to play with this guy. Even here, a lot of posters want Rondo out of the Celtics this Summer. Stop dreaming about ridiculous trades; they aint gonna happen.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

This is your second post in regards to Bass and Rondo, and you're taking masked jabs at Rondo for whatever reason...  This is so far from the truth.  Bass is looking for more money, because he feels he is underpaid.  It has nothing to do with any animosity with Rondo.

""I do (expect to be in Boston). I would love to be back here," Bass said earlier this week. "The fans (in Boston) are unbelievable. I think for any player, this organization is the organization that you want to play for."

Bass pointed to a tight-knit bond with his Boston teammates.

"This group here was like family, for the first time in a long time. It felt like family," he said. "We had fights, we had ups, we had downs, but at the end of the day we all fought for each other, and I'm just grateful to be a part of this group.""

Bass said as long as Rondo is the PG he wants to be a Celtic so I don't know where you're getting that from.
