Then, you increase chances of signing Howard in 2013.

Imagine DWill, Gasol, KG, Pierce and DH all on the same team!

Is it possible?

It sounds so easy to say.

What happens if D-Will says no to the Celtics then, what now?

After how the two played this season, Rondo is worth more than Gasol.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Also, would we possibly have the money? Seems like cap wise, if you assume best case scenarios of say...8million per for Kg, keeping Pierce on the books, not losing Rondo's money and making up the rest for Gasol, I don't think it works cap wise.

I would feel confident of KG taking a bargain basement contract if it meant Deron Williams + Pau Gasol (even at the cost of Rondo) coming in.

That type of star talent, he'd need to see that type of talent coming in to consider it. He wouldn't do it for role players like Ilyasova. But for Deron + Pau? Yeah, I think KG would take a small contract for that.

But, is it possible to add all the payroll from Pau (over Rondo) and still sign Deron?

Agree 100 percent. An aging star on the downside versus one of the best young players in the league.

Only undercover Lakers fan would proposal such a trade. I kid.  ;D

Bad trade for the Celtics. Rondo is teetering superstars level. Only a handfull of players in the NBA I would trade Rondo for. Gasol ain't one of them.

D Will has to sign first after we renounce everyone.

Fan loyalty to players on the teams they support is a nice trait also.  I do not want Howard, DWill or Gasol in green.  They simply are not mentally tough enough to be Celtics!  Rondo has earned the right for Celtics fans to show some loyalty and should not be part of a daydream wish list in exchange for guys who do not play like Celtics.

No but acquiring Gasol and signing Nash would. Gasol's contract ends in two years like Pierces does. Then sign Nash, KG, and ray to two year deals. You could have nothing but rookie contracts when all those guys expire and people like Kevin Love can opt-out.

For the record I wouldn't trade Rondo for Gasol. Even if it meant we got Nash.

Seriously? why would you trade Rondo? That would mean 5 years of training a superstar Point Guard all flushed down the toilet. And still don't get why you guys see Ray as being out, as he clearly stated that he wants another run with the other three guys

If Danny traded Rondo for Gasol, whatever his future plans are, he should be (and would be) fired.  He has admitted this himself.

After how well Rondo played in this post season he is better then Deron Williams.

People tend to get overly enamored by statistics.  Rondo is a WINNER.

Agree, rondo shows grit like kg , bird or cowens (yes i feel when his career is done #9 will hang in rafters)
I agree on the mentally tough part as well.  Howard is a game changer but he seems to have the "new" player attitude (as does williams) compared to the throwback fire of rondo.  Gasol I'd still be interested in getting on the celtics.  He is a guy who will age nicely, much like pierce, his offense can be through the flow of the game and he is a very good passer.  The celtics are at the point where Rondo is maybe not THE leader of the team but he is one of 2 or 3.  I'd assume Ainge wants his leaders around to keep the young guys playing the right way (doc as well).  See how long it took the team to get back to being a celtics team after the ml carr, pitino  :-X debacles.  Danny keeps the core intact and injects some youth we are a top tier team again.  No reason to go silly and trade our all star point guard.  Better to get him a backup so he doesn't have to play every minute or the team needs him to play every minute
