if we trade and signed for ersan (say bass, jjj and moore) we could keep our bird rights on jeff and ray and have access to the full MLE so long as our total salary was below $74 mill

Alternatively we could sign ersan to cap space and still have enough cap space to sign only one of green/ray/bass, but the c's would only have access to the room exception instead of the full MLE

so the choice between b/w sign and trade and signing ersan as a free agent comes down to jjj and moore for the lesser of ray and jeff and having access to the full MLE.

This all assumes that jeff and ray will sign for 5-6 mill, ersan for 8-9 mill and kg will come back for 9 mill, and bass would accept a sign and trade to the bucks if he opted out

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
This assumes that Milwaukee wants any of those guys. Bass in particular, you have to wonder how many teams would really want him on a multiyear deal, for all his gifts, he's got kind of a limited skillset, and definitely isn't a guy you want to build around. Milwaukee has too many PFs already, it's the main reason they'd fail to resign Ilyasova at all. If they let him walk it's because they think they'd do better with the cap space, which they lose here.

Maybe if we offered a first, but even then I'm doubtful.

Just because we want to get rid of players to get better players doesnt mean the other team will take our bottom of the roster (except bass) just to get it done. No way the Bucks make that deal.

Ilyasova is a free agent, so the bucks can lose him and get nothing and the c's are in a position to get him for nothing.

Besides there are not that many free agents out their better than bass, he fairly young and a good worker would fit well with skiles, besides getting bass they would be getting two young players for nothing, moore is a restricted free agent the year after next year, and jujuan has a team option after next year as your typical rookie contracts have so there is little risk, if they like the c's could add their own 2nd rounder back and the nets 2nd rounder to the mix. Although people have soured on the rookies they are better than getting nothing.
