And I'm sure a lot of teams are interested in duncan who is a ufa.

Garnett is going to either be a celtic or retire next season

I think it'd be much better if the Celtics signed Duncan instead.

It's not happening.  KG has too much invested in Boston and is so close to the end a move wouldn't make sense unless the Spurs blow the Celtics out of the water with the money offered (don't see that happening).

The only thing that would make sense is if Ainge did a sign and trade (with KGs permission) for Green and Ginobli.

Even then, that would leave us completely bone dry in big men who could rebound and Ainge would have to some other deal lined up to get at least two quality rebounding bigs.

KG sign and trade for Green + Ginobli
JJJ + 21 + Ray sign and trade for Joakhim Noah

Rondo / Dooling / Moore
Bradley / Ginobli / Green
Pierce / Jeff Green / Green
Bass / Wilcox
Noah / Stiemsma / Hollins

Season after.  Pierce retires.  Bass/Wilcox walk for more money elsewhere.  Dooling retires.  Resign Jeff

Rondo / Moore
Bradley / Ginobli
Jeff Green/ Green
Josh Smith
Noah / Stiemsma / Hollins

Fill in the rest with role players and the MLE.

Obviously unlikely, but a fun exercise of fantasy GM.

Here's an idea, keep KG.  Trade for Noah.  Not sure why the Bulls would give him up though.

I can't think of a single team in the league that wouldn't be better with KG.

I can't think of a single team in the league where KG wouldn't be the best possible free agent for maximizing next season's win total.

The Lakers is the one counter-example that popped into my mind, they have two big men already who eat up most of the minutes. Deron Williams would be a much bigger addition as it'd give them another perimeter threat.

Of course the Lakers don't have the room to sign either of them.

well maybe development of a year after year doormat / lottery team, yeah maybe.  wow, I just don't know what people are thinking when they post stuff like this.

KG has been THE instrumental player that completely changed our team culture.  I would want to have KG for as long as he wants to be here.  He is a BIG help to our young players.

it's time to let KG go.
the team will be better off without him
delaying our development.

And KG would be a huge improvement over Gasol, how he played this year.  So I don't even think that example works.

Agreed on KG's addition improving everyone... luckily, if he goes anywhere, it will be back to Boston.

Am I the only one who thinks that going back to Minnesota is a (vague) third possibility for Garnett?

Who is the "our" in your statement? The team as a whole?

Garnett has refashioned the franchise in his own image. Look at the team's chemistry and culture this season. The team won (probably more than it should have) thanks to hard work, selflessness, and determination, with Garnett leading the way.

If you're worried about player development, I would think you'd want KG in that locker room until he's 65.

Good post, Lucky.

As for the other, what's that Twitter acronym?

SMH.

That pretty much says it all re: letting Garnett walk.

SMH.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

KG might be a more natural fit next to Bynum, but the difference between him and Pau isn't on the same geological scale as between Sessions/Williams.

Thought this was worth passing along:

http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21206161/report-spurs-interested-garnett

I think Garnett would be a great fit for the Spurs but I can't see him leaving Boston if he doesn't retire.

ditto.

Maybe we could pry Duncan away from the Spurs and the finally get the pick we should have gotten so many years ago. We could be the scariest old guy starting line up in the league with rondo, allen, pierce, garnett, and duncan...then bring in the young guns bradley, green, wilcox, bass to give em big breaks.

This just in...Every NBA team is interested in Kevin Garnett.

KG and the TWolves owners are not on the same page to say the least.

And as KG has recently shown, he pays attention to what owner's say publicly.
