DO we bring back the big 4? KG an Allen could come back fairly cheap an we could use the money to try an get some one in a trade or FA. Deron is the prize in FA this year. We could sign him an move Rondo for Dwight? or another star. Or blow it up build around Rondo, or trade Rondo for picks an young pieces, same with Pierce an try an sign an trade KG an Allen.

what do you guys think?

Theres so many ways this team can go this summer. Im on the fence about what Direction to take.

Assuming we kept the big 4. Getting another big man is key. I see Nash leaving Phoenix so the Suns might unload Gortat at the right price, Bass plus a 1st rd pick might do it.

What about signing KG, Allen and Nash for cheap short term deals or minues Nash for Deron ( if they money can work). Then tade Rondo an Allen in a 3 way deal to Utah an OKC

Boston gets Harden

Utah gets Rondo

OKC gets Millsap, Allen an a 1st from Boston or Alec Burks from Utah.

Of course theres a phew more pieces this is the basic quick breakdown. Heres why OKC does this. They need a scoring big man bad an Millsap is just that an more. They cant afford Harden an Ibaka an likely Harden will be to much period. They could then use Burks or the first in sign an trade to get Mayo on the cheap. We get Harden a stud scorer an possibly a player to build around in the future. Nash or Deron repaces Rondo an gives us another 3 pt shooter. This team would just need a C an we could be looking at a 2 year window to win with this team.

Theres many other ways we could possibly keep this team or most of it intact an stay contenders an one or too ways we could blow it up an still stay contenders. But in all likely hood our best option may be to blow it up an start re-building. We have too first this year, With Pierce we have a player who could bring back multiple great young players or high draft picks or a combo of both. Rondo would bring back the same or we keep him around. Plus loads of money to spend in FA. We tank it for too years. We would have Rondo, two high picks, Plus what we got for Pierce an Money to sign a star.

I like your thinking but if we trade Rondo it's gotta be for someone like Dwight Howard. As if people weren't convinced of Rondo's value post-All Star break, he proved he's worthy of his Third Team All-NBA selection (I personally think he should have been Second but I'm biased) in the playoffs with FOUR triple doubles and around 18/13 per game with decent rebounding numbers. He showed up in every big game and in the blah minutes if he wasn't attacking he was orchestrating the offense nicely. I'm sure Stern is kicking himself for not taking one of the best star contracts in the league now that Gordon proved to be a disappointment this year and might even leave now.

I would trade Rondo and a first if we got both Harden and Millsap in return -- in my mind, he's just that good now, especially with his jumper slowly but steadily improving -- but not one or the other.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Rondo and KG for me, please.

And let's hope Danny can get a little something for Ray and Paul.

edit

I agree, there is no equal to a player like Rondo and even what I just said there doesn't give him enough credit.

I would want a little more, but Harden is a darn good player! That being said I'm not a huge fan of trading Rondo. We need to trade for players like Harden or Harrison Barnes that compliment him well.

Depends on what the Celtics are offered in trades.

There is no good "blow up" plan through free agency this year.

I think Danny's end game is Dwight Howard and Deron Williams.  He has the piece to get Howard (Rondo) and at its highest value right now.  If we really believe Williams will leave Brooklyn for less money, i think Boston is the ideal spot with Howard.

This is probably a 10-15% chance of even happening but I truly believe this is Danny's game plan for the summer.  He thinks big and would do what it takes to bring in a top 5-10 NBA player(s).

If he fails at this, then i can see another year with the band back together but i think it will be an uglier ending.  I just hope he doesn't over pay for too many years to go for one more run that will likely fail to the much younger and athletic teams in the East

Highly unlikely.  The Magic just cleared the front office and coaching staff to make Howard happy.  They have to let this play out at least up to the trade deadline.

Howard and Williams in Boston...? NO, thanks.

Not only is that not that great, it's two divas that wouldn't make me proud to be a Cs fan.

The best "blow it up" plan might be to bring back all the veterans and watch them get even more injured than this season so that Boston resembles San Antonio in the season that led to them drafting Duncan.

I would take that in a heart beat.

It wasn't even the veterans getting injured well Ray but that and the nagging injuries to them were more probably because our bench was pretty much injured in the young guys and they had to shoulder the load, the lockout schedule didn't help either.

I think you're crazy.  two of the top 15 players in the league in their primes?  Its unrealistic but i would sign up for this and roll with it.

i agree its highly unlikely, but i think this is Danny's goal for the summer.  Danny has been trying to break this group up for years now so its in his nature to think big.  Rondo's value is at its all time highest right now and i think Orlando would consider it if Dwight makes it clear he doesn't want to come back.
