I don't mind having him back. I just hope we can find a better starting PF.

Good glad he'll be back really like Bass. Does anyone know what his salary is? I want to say somewhere around 4 mil right? Thats good cause he could have opted out and asked for more so its getting off to a good start.

Bass @ 1 year, $4.25 mil is a pretty solid deal. If you can KG back for ~$10, that gives you $10 mil to retain Ray and upgrade that woeful back-up 5 spot with someone who can make an impact on the boards and defensively (someone like Dalembert).

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson

I honestly hope Ray does not come back.  One of the biggest reasons the Celtics offense goes into ridiculous droughts is because the first 18 seconds of the shot clock are used running a slow Ray Allen off of ineffective screens.

Its time to infuse some youth into this lineup, rely on Avery Bradley, and get some additional players.

If indeed Brandon Bass comes back for his player option then that's great news.  Finally the Celtics will have cap room to make some moves.

I don't see the C's drafting Nicholson with Bass and JJJ already on the team.

A trade-up may be more likely now, but either way, pretty interesting.

Good value for sure.

If this is accurate it is an obvious steal for the Celtics. Brandon Bass at 4 million is a good deal and it gives them tons of flexibility. Honestly, I think Brandon Bass knows that he could get a ton more money elsewhere this offseason, but he wants to be a Boston Celtic. Him playing out this contract for one more year allows him to re-sign at more dollars for the Celtics next year when they have tons of cap space.

Very true. If he can have the same production, which I think he will coming off the bench, it'll be huge for us.

This is why I would for us to grab a big in the draft or FA. Be it C or PF. You put Bass back to the bench, take him out and still let him play for 25 minutes or so. While the other big dictates helps in the rebounding and defense in the first few minutes.

Bass for 4 mil is a great deal, I do hope KG is back next year. Would love to see Ray back too, but with the way Bradley has been playing I think Rondo/Pierce/KG/Bradley would make a solid starting lineup.

Love Bass on a 1 year deal at 4.5 mil, but we still need a real starting PF

My PF free agent wish list

1)Odom
2)Illyasova
3) Humpheries

add any of those guys and bring Green and KG back, ray already said he is not retiring so hopefully he will take the vet min to retire a celtic

PG: Rondo   / Bradley     / Dooling or Moore
SG: Bradley / Ray         /Pietrus
SF: PP      / Green       / Draft pick
PF: Odom    / Bass        / JJJ         / Draft pick
 C: KG      /. draft pick / Wilcox

I absolutely love that starting lineup and bench , especially if we can land an impact big in the draft ( Terrence Jones, Leonard, White )

Sorry not happy about it. He seems lost and confused at times i would rather a player who could set up his own shot by backing up in the post or new how to pass in stead of tossing it back up to rondo to reset the play.

Unfortunately, judging from the article there doesn't seem to be anything definitive that he will opt in. I think it's the writer's speculation, which is based off of Bass' comments. However, Bass might be thinking of opting out and re-signing long term and not necessarily for the risky 1 yr deal.

Quote
Brandon Bass, fresh off a 101-88 loss to the Heat, told reporters on Saturday that he wants to return to the Celtics after enjoying his first season with the team, reports Paul Flannery of WEEI.com. The former LSU star proved to be a strong contributor during the playoffs as he averaged 11.1 PPG and 5.3 RPG in 20 contests. Bass, 27, arrived in Boston from Orlando after being traded for Glen Davis and Von Wafer just prior to the start of the 2011/2012 season.

"This group of guys, this team has been great to be a part of," he said. "We fought through so many different things. Teammates going down, injuries, we continued to fight. I’d say I love these guys. It was just a great experience being a part of this group."
Bass' option would pay him $4.25MM for the 2012/2013 season, which Boston would consider to be a bargain given the forward's play over the course of the season and ability to be productive while in the team's starting lineup. His best game came during the second round of the playoffs against the Sixers where Bass scored 27 points during a crucial Game 5 victory. After playing for three other teams during his seven-year career, Bass appears to be ready to settle down and commit long term to the Celtics.

"I do," he said when asked if he thought he would be back. "I would love to be back here. The fans here are unbelievable. For any player, this organization is the organization that you want to play for."

My hope would be to bring Bass back as the first big off the bench, and pair KG with someone with size and mobility.

KG at the 5 is great, but KG at the 4 with a starting caliber 5 is good too (especially someone who can crash the glass).

Of course Bass would like to be back; but there is not much reason for him to take a one year deal. He will probably be looking for something long term which the C's might be OK with.
