This all depends on if KG is coming back....

I know the guy has been off the radar for a few years since he has been traded to Washington and his stats have really gone down, but look at the team he was playing with.
Rashard Lewis is exactly the type of stretch for a lot of C's fans are calling for. If you don't want to offer someone like Illyasova a long term contract, give Rashard Lewis a 1 year deal and see if he has anything left in the tank .

He is only 32 years old, has plenty of big game experience and has hit many clutch shots over the years.

I would try to bring him in whether Bass opts out or not, he would be a good cheap replacement for Bass for a year or he would be added to the starting lineup moving Bass to the bench. He also give us more length at the starting PF spot.

Odom is in a very similar situation to Lewis. He is coming off a horrible season where he was totally out of it . Even though he can be very annoying I think he has a decent amount of BBall left and would give us a legit 7 foot stretch 4 with length and big game experience to start next to KG.

Add one of those two guys and Green off the bench and the c's could be really deep at the PF spot. Then add some centers in the draft and resigning wilcox( I know he's not a true center )

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'd prefer Odom to be honest.
He wants to play in Boston too and would buy into the 6th man role very well. We could have him play inside with KG or outside like Bosh. KG as a team mate would be great for him and bring out the best in him as a competitor (it even got something out of Rasheed Wallace.) Danny likes to take a flyer on guys like Lamar coming out of tough situations and I think Lamar will be available on the cheap.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I haven't talked about it much on this site but I've told my Dad a million times Odom would be perfect for this team, as painful as it was to say when he was with LA. Shoots pretty well, drives pretty well, rebounds. He's an athletic guy, and usually a pretty efficient player. I like Rashard Lewis but he might be a little off after going from the 2nd or 3rd highest paid player in basketball to playing for Washington(?).

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

yea I would probably go with Odom over Lewis too, but depends on who comes cheaper and on a 1 year deal.

A roster of

PG: Rondo  / Bradley / Vet min
SG: AB    / Ray( already said he's not retiring)/ Pietrus
SF: PP    / Green    / Pietrus
PF: Odom  / Bass or Green / Draft pick / JJJ
 C: KG    / Draft Pick    / Wilcox

Looks like a very deep team and we would actually have more length and athleticism with Odom and Green.

I like our chances with that roster next season for one more run .

I'd prefer Rashard honestly. Don't like what Odom did last year and will never look at him the same way.

I don't think we need a stretch 4 really.  I think finding a hard nosed rebounding four to pair with KG is more important.
do it

well of course I would prefer that , but looking at the free agent list, there really isn't anyone like that besides maybe Humpheries(who is likely to get a long term deal). I would still prefer Odom over Humpheries, he does so many more things better when he has his head on straight.

Would love to add a rebounding bruiser in the draft though. Someone like Meyers Leonard, Terrence Jones or Royce White would be ideal .

depends if Laamar Odom's head is on straight...if he is into it, the guy is 12-14PPG a night and can do so many things.

this year he was no better than a scrub and it was all mental

If Odom can get his head back into basketball, I'd definitely take him. He can stretch the floor but he also plays down low and rebounds. Rashard Lewis is basically just a chucker, and that's why he's on the Wizards.

Any big man who can provide rim protection so we aren't a sieve when KG is on the bench would be huge.

One who can do that and rebound would be perfect.

Odom loves Kobe and LA I'd love to have him but you think he wants to play in Boston of all places? Lakers had Odom the OKC series might've gone differently he's the X-factor on any good team but I don't know....

Andrei Kirilenko would be my top FA target with the MLE.

Go all out in a run and gun offense with terrific quickness and length from Garnett (C) and Kirilenko (PF) to protect the paint defensively with Rondo and Bradley doing there on the perimeter. Pierce plugging the holes on each end.

Try to keep Bass, Stiemsma (backup C), Wilcox (third string C), Jeff Green (SF/PF), Pietrus (SG/SF) and Dooling (PG) to fill out the bench. Look to replace Marquis with a shooter/defender. Probably can't upgrade Dooling if MLE is spent on Kirilenko, oh well. Bring in Joey Dorsey as a rebounder/rebounder PF (third string PF, alternative to Bass) off the bench.

I wonder if that bench is better off without Ray. Lots more quickness and activity without him there. I think the team needs that. I hate to lose Ray's shooting and scoring. Anyway, probably miss out on one of Green/Pietrus so bring Ray back in that case.

C  - Garnett, Stiemsma, Wilcox
PF - Kirilenko, Bass, Dorsey, JJJ
SF - Pierce, Green, (shooter/defender)
SG - Bradley, Pietrus/Ray
PG - Rondo, Dooling

I think that is a pretty nasty team. I'd be very happy to see that next season.

This. I think it's great to see how the Celtic's lineup was sort of inverted this year with our backcourt attacking the basket (Bradley, Rondo) and our frontcourt stretching the floor, but we need rebounding badly. A 4 who can eat glass and get into the paint. It's a stretch, but someone along the lines of Paul Millsap is what I had in mind.

Doesn't Rashard still need to be bought out before he even becomes an option? The Wizards have a lot of roster decisions to make and paying Lewis like $13 million and Blatche $28 million or so to not play basketball for them is a tough one.
