Doesn't Rashard still need to be bought out before he even becomes an option? The Wizards have a lot of roster decisions to make and paying Lewis like $13 million and Blatche $28 million or so to not play basketball for them is a tough one.
oops you're right, i thought lewis was ufa this year.  In that case go after odom, if kg takes a paycut we could offer him more than any other contender(and a starting spot)  and also sign Jeff green off the bench

Lamar Odom will not play in Boston because his wife will not let him.

These are good ideas if KG (and possibly Ray) are coming back.

I also wouldn't sleep on JaJuan Johnson.  He has Brandon Bass like-range.  If he works on the 18 footer over the summer, he could take Bass's place if Bass walks.

And Johnson would be a great running partner with Rondo and Bradley (and hopefully Jeff Green).

Andrei Kirilenko would be my top FA target with the MLE.

Go all out in a run and gun offense with terrific quickness and length from Garnett (C) and Kirilenko (PF) to protect the paint defensively with Rondo and Bradley doing there on the perimeter. Pierce plugging the holes on each end.

Try to keep Bass, Stiemsma (backup C), Wilcox (third string C), Jeff Green (SF/PF), Pietrus (SG/SF) and Dooling (PG) to fill out the bench. Look to replace Marquis with a shooter/defender. Probably can't upgrade Dooling if MLE is spent on Kirilenko, oh well. Bring in Joey Dorsey as a rebounder/rebounder PF (third string PF, alternative to Bass) off the bench.

I wonder if that bench is better off without Ray. Lots more quickness and activity without him there. I think the team needs that. I hate to lose Ray's shooting and scoring. Anyway, probably miss out on one of Green/Pietrus so bring Ray back in that case.

C  - Garnett, Stiemsma, Wilcox
PF - Kirilenko, Bass, Dorsey, JJJ
SF - Pierce, Green, (shooter/defender)
SG - Bradley, Pietrus/Ray
PG - Rondo, Dooling

I think that is a pretty nasty team. I'd be very happy to see that next season.

Kirilenko is my primary offseason target as well.  That defense would be fun to watch.

Probably the best possible team going the non-renounce route.

Problem is, I don't think AK will be available for the MLE.

Edit - we'd probably have the BAE to spend in your scenario as well.

I believe Washington prefers not to use amnesty on either Lewis or Blatche. They don't want to pay either of them for not playing with them. (I think it's a mistake.)

Isn't Dallas working on revising the terms of Odom's contract to allow them to trade him back to LA after July 1?

Does that still exist? I couldn't remember if it was in the new CBA or not.

I thought so - IIRC only available to teams under the tax.  Could be wrong though.

I think I'd prefer playing Jeff Green out of position at the 4 over bringing in Odom or Lewis.

Odom and Lewis are both washed up.  I want no part of either of them...

I think Odom and Lewis are more likely to be completely worthless than Green.

Agreed.  I think the Celts would be better off signing me (6'1", 31 y/o, slightly overweight) - at least I'd be a good locker room presence - unlike either of these guys.

Okay, I'm now officially convinced we have saboteurs on the forums. We've got people saying trade ray and bass for stoudemire. We've now got people saying we should add people like Rashard Lewis and Lamar Odom to the team now!?

We get it, Heat fans, your team won. No need to twist the knife in us now...

Ray/Bass for Stoudemire is defensible if you think Ray is gone no matter what and you don't care about putting the team in salary cap hell in the future.  I might support the idea of putting in a small bid for Rashard Lewis if he were amnestied or offering him the minimum if he is waived under normal rules by Washington, but only with an understanding that he is behind Bass on the depth chart.

But anyone who wants to bring Odom on board has forfeited the right to criticize Doc for sticking with veterans too much over younger players.

If Lewis were amnestied, I would totally be into trying to get Lewis, Odom or Kirilenko for the MLE. Add one of those players, Jeff Green and the current rotation and you're suddenly looking at a very dynamic deep team.

Odom and Kirilenko's defense would make them a priority over Lewis.
