I think Doc, KG, PP and RR can bring the best of McGee. He was in a mess in Washington. He's legit 7footer, extremely athletic and great shotblocker with potential to be great defensive player. I dont think we have better options

Not even Doc, KG, PP or RR can make a dumb guy smart.

If they really want to win 1 more ring, Ray and KG should come back for low pay. KG has made $290mm playing ball the last 17 years. Ray has made $178mm.
They should not need to play for money.

If I am them I make a deal with DA to play for a few million each and have a say in who the team signs.

With depth, this team would have beat the Heat. Both players are still effective but need to play a lot less minutes.

Agreed.  I would like to see another run with this group with a good deep bench.

McGee is.a joke.... Having him on this team would be like having Kobe as a spokesperson for that hotel he stayed at in Colorado a few years beck

I disagree. While he has a long ways to go, he looked different when he got traded to Denver. As long as he plays his role, with the veteran leadership on this team, McGee would be valuable. But like I said he has a long way to go, but of we can have him now and develop under the vets, he could a piece for the future.

Just put it this way. Ryan Hollins was a joke and the Cavs fans were happy to happy when he was gone. He enters Boston, gave us solid production on limited minutes. He wasn't known for his ball IQ either, he just played his role and gave us solid production most of the times. You're trying to tell me JaVale, who's more athletic, more aggressive and a much better player than Hollins can't do the same, if not more? I don't think so.

As long as we don't overpay him, I'm on board. Vets and winning mentality in the locker room changes a players mindset.  Trust me, withe the leadership we have and our winning ways, heck even the biggest headcase and my favorite big man @DrayBaltche would do solid production with us once he gets accustomed to the system and the mentality.

why would they resign with Boston for very low pay when they go to Miami, Oklahoma City, Chicago, Dallas, either L.A., etc.  If it is truly about winning titles, then they won't come back to Boston.

Ray and KG are two different dudes than what you normally see out of the league. I don't think it's about tagging along on other teams for titles anymore. I think for them it's about playing in what they think is the best basketball city in the NBA and trying to piece together one more championship team for this city and this uniform.

My ideal scenario:
Resign KG for 8 mill
Bring back Bass on his player option, probably outplayed his deal, but said he wants to be in Boston
Sign McGee or Hibbert, if neither happens go after someone like Asik
Sign & trade Ray Allen for whatever young talent/ late picks possible
Draft Nicholson and Harkless
Resign Peitrus if willing to come cheap
resign Steimsma and Green.

Realistically thats not going to happen; this would be the rotation:
Rondo/ Vet min/Moore
Bradley/Pietrus/ Harkless
Pierce/Green/ Harkless
Bass/Green/Nicholson/JJJ
KG/Asik/ Vet min or late 2nd rounder

I'd like to point the boston out lasted all those teams but OKC and Miami. The fact that you said that means you don't think the C's are legit contenders correct? Plus fans are whats keeping KG's motor running anyway and thats obvious. I personally believe we are legit contenders just need a bench.

And option two:
Renounce everybody.
With 26,7 millions try to:
-sign Javale McGee 50mil/4yr, so 11mil first year
-sign Kevin Garnett 8mil/1yr
-sign Jeff Green 5mil/1yr
-sign Greg Stiemsma 2,5 mil/1yr
and round up the roster with vet.min guys

Lets forget Mcgee idea for a sec. It will take 12-13 million to bring back KG. Some teams could throw 15 a year for his services next year. Jeff Green will want 9 million as he signed this year.

Stiemsma will be happy even receiving a vet min. He is not worth 2.5 million right now. You forgot to bring Back Hollins, Dooling

Back to Mcgee. No is the answer.

It may be a pipe dream, but it's MY dream.

In a perfect world, KG and Ray show their "True Celtic Pride" and take vet min deals.

Just imagine how awesome that would be, and how much flexibility it would allow the team to bolster other areas of the roster.  I am praying it happens!

Yall have to use your brains. Do you think KG will go to the raptors for 14m or come back to the C's for 8m? This dude is not chasing money he is chasing a ring. He will not go to a struggling team as all that will do is fustrate the hell out of him. KG is a WINNER!He will NOT GO TO A LOSING TEAM.

I agree in the general sense that there are only two approaches but who knows the details.  The options are try to patch the team up and go for another big-3 lead run or blow it up and rebuild.  I think KG is the linchpin of the which way to go.

I think KG can still be a key guy on a top NBA team but he can't be the only ligit big man on the team.  If we can get a David West calibar guy at either the 4 or the 5 (with KG taking the other spot), then with Pierce, Rondo and whomever, (there would still be some other important pieces to fill in of course) we have a ligit team.  If we can't fill that other big man spot with that level of talent, then I don't think it is worth bring KG back and we may as well blow it up.

Brandon Bass or Jeff Green or Wilcox is just not enough front court talent to go along with KG at this point in KG's career.  I don't think we necessarily need Dwight Howard (and I actually don't even want him) but at a minimum someone in the David West, Paul Gasol, maybe even Chris Kaman tier of talent.

If we can't sign/trade for the KG complement that we need, I would prefer they just blow it up.  KG can't do it all anymore and he will try like a warrier and then break down.  I don't want to watch that.  If they do blow it up, who knows where that will go.

very good point sir.

plus Mcgee not work 10m a year lol. Don't get me wrong he will get it but he is not worth it. 10m a year is for superstars which Javale is not and may be to dumb to ever be. Why spend so much money this offseason when there will be waaaay better unrestricted big men next offseason? only way we getting a center is through the draft NO ONE IN FA IS WORTH 10M A YEAR.(EXCEPT DWILL)

----------------------------------
because they like the city, the organization, the fans, the coach and their teammates and they want to continue to be the leaders of the team.

Sure, if KG and Ray went to Miami for the vet minimum, they'd probably win a ring but they'd lose their identities and be left with a hollow feeling. If they give it another run in Boston and are successful, they solidify their legendary legacies and get their numbers hoisted (this may happen anyway but another ring would guarantee it).
