Sportsmanship is clearly out the door with these two teams. i really wouldn't have shed a tear if LBJ and DWade didn't wanna shake our hands either. KG and Rondo play with an extreme edge, and are incredibly emotional. It's not a huge deal.

This is STILL being discussed? I am sure neither team is losing sleep over it. Let's get over it. Since when have either of these guys been 'polite' neither did anything I would not expect them to do. Whether or not they are perfect and polite is not what I expect out of any athlete. There are far greater things going on in the world then being upset about then this.

You're right. If we were decent human beings, we would delete this forum altogether and focus on the war crimes in Syria.

Considering LeBron and Wade didnt give post-game conferences in any of their losses, I'd say that it was pretty justified. I'm sure if they'd lost honourably to OKC they'd happily shake hands with russ and durant.

That said, Ray shaking hands with everyone and smiling was a beautiful way to end the game and I think it's something I will remember for a long time.

I imagine they left early for the same reason I tell myself Pierce left early in Game 2. They are sick of the uneven officiating and the league and want to get off the court as quickly as possible before they snapped and did something.

I'm worried the frustration with the way the league is run more than the grind will send Pierce, KG and/or Duncan into early retirement. I still remember Sheed's last season he just seemed so disillusioned and tired of it all. He was due so it didn't bother me too much when he retired but I believe KG and Pierce have a bit of basketball left in them.

Anyway back to the topic LOL I'm fine with KG and Rondo giving these whiners the cold shoulder. At least Rondo came back and did the presser. Something that would never had happened if the game had gone the other way.

The majority of fans are immature poor sports.  So I am not shocked at the amount of people supporting kg and rondos move, because they were poor sports in this instance.  And I'm not going to beat them up too bad, because I get that they were not happy.

But I'm not going to PRAISE them for the move either!  The ONLY thing it showed was poor sportsmanship.

You guys acting like what they did was a good thing need to get out of here with that garbage.

During the game, during the series, I agree 100%.

But when it is done, a man upholds the honor and respect the contest deserves.

Seriously?

The season just ended and THIS is the biggest topic?

This is a joke.  This is not 3rd grade pee wee league.  This is the NBA where grown men play.  They are not mandated by the league to have to shake hands, and nor should they.  The Heat are a bunch of punks who do not play the game the way it's supposed to be played.  They play it the way Stern likes it- flashy, big headed, media orientated, money sink.

Baring Bosh becoming Ray Allen from 3 point land, Lebron hitting a half court 3 point shot, and the refs giving twice the FTs to the Heat, the Celtics win this game and it's a travesty they lost because of dumb luck and refereeing

Double standard a bit... LeBron did this a couple years back (to Orlando, I think?) and he was absolutely buried for it.  I didn't really blame Bron then and I don't really blame KG/Rondo now.

For anyone who has been debating with me in other threads about LeBron... This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.  People nitpick the heck out of LeBron for petty things that even our own players do from time to time... we just give them a pass, because we're wearing green-tinted goggles... and the public buries LeBron, because he's the best player alive and he's constantly under a microscope of hate.

Stop it.  Lebron James is getting his due right now, even from most of us green-tinted Celtics homers.

I don't see why you keep complaining about all the hate being hurled at Bron, nonetheless.

Unsportman, Classless, shamefull, cowardly act. Not an adult or Celtic like act.

you don't understand what being a Celtic means -

Larry Bird, Dave Cowens and Russell didn't conduct a hug-fest after a playoff series. in fact, i remember reading a comment from Paul Silas back in the 70's that the Celtics considered the opponent to be the enemy and had a policy of never giving them a hand up off the floor or a bunch of handshakes before or after a game.

i don't want to see my Celtics go out throwing dirty shots trying to hurt someone or acting like the aforementioned Pistons of the early 90's - but the Celtics have never been in the business of being friends with their opponent - Russ & Wilt being the outlier.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I have no problem with that what so ever.  It's not like LeBron and Wade are the most respectable dudes in the NBA.  Great players, yes but respectable, not quite.

I would rather have fierce competitors who hate their foe then these guys who insist upon having a love fest before and after games.

I like it both ways. Boston is one of the teams who doesnt love their opponents these days, almost the only team.

But was great to see the respect between both teams, and even the heat crowd gave an ovation for the celtics big 3. I know Rondo/KG have loads of respect aswell for the opponent, but nothing more than that.
