MIAMI -- There are certain favors you ask at great, great risk. Such as: Borrow large sums of money. Help move a piano. Take care of your dog that still hasn't gotten the hang of housetraining.

And root for the Heat.

This may come off sounding like an anti-Celtics story. But it's not. It's just a simple and direct basketball plea, that's all. A request to the basketball gods to give us Miami vs. Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals, especially after what we've all been through since last summer. Don't you think we deserve it?

Look. The Celtics, at this point, are many things: Noble, for sure. Proud. Fighters. Gamely geezers. Gritty, determined, resourceful. All that.

And they're also something else: In the way.

For the sake of Heat lovers and haters, the Celtics need to step aside Saturday so we can witness a big buildup to an event that just might meet the hype. If the Heat win Saturday, basketball wins. Seriously, after watching LeBron James on Thursday, and Kevin Durant the last week, and knowing how quickly the ball will whisk up and down the floor if these two players and teams met, why would you wish for anything else? What's the alternative?

This piece does infuriate me because it is so wrong for the league site to have a piece like this. But, it does say this at the end:

The views on this page do not necessarily reflect the views of the NBA, its clubs or Turner Broadcasting.

I don't understand how the NBA would let someone have this up there at all. That disclaimer on the bottom is stupid.

EFF IT. It's a pretty simple opinion and easy to understand. James vs Durant, Heat vs Thunder is a far "sexier" match up than Celtics vs Thunder. Big all stars like Wade, James, Durant, Westbrook in their prime certainly has appeal to non-Celtics fans who maybe don't seriously despise the Heat and want to see the most in prime talent in the finals.

As Celtics fans, we don't care and want to send the Heat home in their house big time. I don't really mind the article. It's an opinion. Odd that it's on NBA.com, but whatever. Fuel to the fire is good for us!

Haha...we've been "In the way" of a CLE-Lakers Final (2009-10).

DAL got in the way of a "LA-MIA" series last year.

We stand in the way of a "OKC-MIA" series.

Oh Well.

Just blame this "Old, Unattractive, Slow, Ugly" team of ours for crashing this party once again (I hope). :)

I like how he says he's not being disrespectful when he calls us a "neat little story".

What is that language but disrespectful?  That's 100% condescending.

In all honesty, the Heat just put a serious beat down on us and we need all the motivation we can get.

You know Rondo and KG will take this personally.

This is going to be an amazing game.
