Complete ball control by Pirlo. Beautiful.

Ah, Ashley Cole and Ashley Young. (both missed). England up against it now.

Well done Italy. I hate these contests being decided on penalties but they were the better side and I think they deserved to win so at least there's that.

England have now lost 8 of the 9 penalty shootouts they have been in. That must be infuriating.

I was miffed when Italy was scheduled to play Sunday.  Sunday is my golf day, so I didn't get to see the game live.

But man I was pleased with the result.  Odd game though, don't know if I've ever seen a game in which one team so thoroughly dominated the other, yet had to go to penalties after a scorless draw.  Italy beat the pants off England, yet couldn't score.

Pirlo is just simply brilliant!

Now, about those Germs...

Prendete i cuori dei Germania. Vai Azzurri!

Quote
.... Pietrus stressed that he couldn’t speak on how Garnett was feeling about returning to the Celtics this upcoming season, but said that the two are keeping in touch when it comes to international soccer.

“I spoke to him. We have a bet. He’s rooting for Germany. I’m rooting for Spain,” Pietrus said. “We just talk about soccer right now. We don’t talk about his business.” ...

Well, now i gotta love KG even more. He needs to come back, i hope he wins the bet.

Für all die deutschen Fans hier: Schlaaaaaaannnnnddddd !!!

Good push there from Spain in extra time. Too bad it came too late. Penalties.

I hate the penalties, just luck, not really skill based ...

But congrats to Spain.

Picture perfect peno from Cesc Fabregas.

Hopefully, Germany and Italy will give us a better match tomorrow. This was disappointing.

They will, Germany wants to take revenge for '08 and '10. But Italy is not easy to play, they play the good old catenaccio and are always good for a fast break goal. Germany has to play really hard. They earned the titel after these loses to spain. We'll see ...
