Looks like the Warriors are looking to get Iggy for a 7th pick.

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/31/its-summer-time-to-start-up-andre-iguodala-trade-rumors/

My questions are-
Do you think we can offer a better deal without giving up Pierce, Rondo, Garnett, and maybe Ray Allen? Possibly our 21st and Bass? or both of our first rounds?

How much of an overall upgrade for our team would Iggy be for us?

Would Philly do it?

Would we want him?

I think it's possible albeit unlikely that Philly would take a trade exception + 2-3 first round picks. I think they have enough upcoming cap flexibility for that to make some sense for them.

The Celtics would lose their bird rights to key free agents though.

I don't know, I just can't see Philly trading Iguodala for a pick.

I think they might consider trading him for another young star player, perhaps one more gifted offensively.

Is there a trade for Josh Smith, and other parts, that might mutually benefit the Sixers and Hawks?

Talk about a fun team to root for, and a real good fit for Iggy to boot...

Bogut/Lee/Iggy/Thompson/Curry

Plenty of scoring there, leaving Iggy to focus on defense and transition.

Yeah that's cute, but not a championship team. Never will be.

Also, Curry will never be healthy.

Thompson is a whining little girl who doesn't play D

He's also just a rookie.

Why would philly want to do that. They knocked off the 1st seed bulls (yes without a rose and noah i know) had a chance to knock the celtics out of the playoff and have a good thing going with Doug Collins. Iggy is their best player. No need to trade him to get younger they are young enough. They need to bring in a scoring big who has been around the league for a little while to round that roster out.

I agree it is probably not a championship team -- ie: it won't unseat the Spurs or the Thunder -- but I bet it could give the Lakers a run for their money (assuming no big changes to the Lakers in the offseason).

It makes the Warriors better, hence it is a no brainer. They need fewer rookies and projects and more established players. It would be great for that team.

I'd love to see them bring David Lee off the bench as a sixth man. Bring in someone like Taj Gibson to start at power forward and use a three player big man rotation.

Strengthen up that interior defense and allow David Lee more touches and shot attempts in the second unit + more advantageous matchups against weaker bench players.

I think it's pretty close to a title caliber team if Bogut (and Curry) can get healthy.

Just needs a supporting cast. Also, Steph Curry need to mature a bit. Curry could make that transition in a single season. His biggest problem is that he is too humble. He just needs to get more assertive out there which is a process that will be sped up without Monta Ellis pushing him to the side on a nightly basis. Some defensive improvement from Klay Thompson will be important too.

Close. Very close.

Because they are not a contender.

AI2 may be their best player, but for what he brings and what they need, he is overpayed.

I wouldnt trade my best player for a number 7 in a weak draft. I would use my other assets to bring in a veteran scoring big man to put alongside Iggy. No they arent a contender, but Iggy is more than a great member for a contending team. No way I trade him for a pick. Philly had a good chance to win the division this year if they didnt fall off late in the season.

But I don't think you can count on Bogut being healthy, that's the thing. He never really has been. Sort of like the Tmac of Centers. So much to like, so much promise, but so much time lost due to injuries.

Yes, I agree. Not at all convinced about Andrew Bogut's health.

But if they did stay healthy and did acquire a guy like Iggy, I think that core is Championship caliber.

Here's a bit more on the Warriors' strategy going into the draft:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2012/06/05/SP421OT4KO.DTL&feed=rss.warriors

Here, specifically, is the scenario by which they hope to acquire a legit SF.

Quote
The Warriors ideally would like to deal the No. 7 pick, one of their selections in the 30s and Dorell Wright for an upgrade at small forward. Then, they could use the remaining pick (No. 30 or 35) on a big man, like St. Bonaventure's Andrew Nicholson, and have the mid-level exception to offer an experienced free-agent point guard.

To, me, Wright plus the #7 plus an early 2nd doesn't seem like enough value for Iguodala.

The Warriors also have Richard Jefferson on their books for the next couple of years, so it seems like they plan to make him a rather expensive backup.
