With the Cs obviously looking to the future I am confident the Cs are not in this trade out situation.

This does create a nice opportunity for Ainge to work with. With so much money coming off the books this off season ownership is going to be in a position to save money on salaries cap penalties for 2012-2013 (even if everyone is resigned KG and Ray deal will not be as big as this years).

These savings should make them much more willing to pay for a late 1st round pick from a team like Miami, OKC, or Chicago. I do not expect the Cs to draft 3 1st round picks but I could see them using 21-22 to move up to maybe 15-18 and then purchase maybe the 29th from chicago.

The huge numbers and range of player the Cs are working out leads me to believe that they at least are looking at the possibility of drafting later in the first or earlier in the second.

If the C's were obviously looking to the future they would not have signed arguably the worst developmental coach in the NBA to a long-term extension.  They're not trading down.  Maybe up for immediate help but not down.

Garnett will be resigned for sure.  Jeff Green and Wilcox will likely be resigned.  IMHO, Allen is the least likely to be resigned.  The roster will be reloaded...Not rebuilt.  Look for one or both of the first rounders to be traded for help at the 4-5.  Combine them, if healthy, with Bradley...And we're better than this year's team.

I agree Danny will be reloading, not rebuilding; he's a good chance of moving up in the draft and consolidating picks; and Ray's the most likely of the Big Three not to be back.

But I think there's a reasonable chance, maybe 20-25%, he does something with Pierce and his contract.  If he can resign Green reasonably and has a crack at a Miller or Harkless type in the draft, he may think it is time to pull the painful trigger.

I don't really understand why they want to trade out. Can someone explain it to me?

It seems like there is legitimate players in the early 2nd round. Why not take a shot with a guy like Doron Lamb? You know he can at least score if nothing else. Or stash a guy like Fournier in France? Festus Ezeli and Fab Melo have a good of shot to make a rotation. Even Marquis Teague is towards the bottom. We saw what his brother can do and he suppossed to be just as good if not better.

Lamb?  If I'm not mistaken we have a guy wearing #55 who doesn't see the court now...Who's scouting report is a carbon copy of Lamb's...And has a year in our system.

Melo?  Ezeli?  What makes you think they'd see the court any more than Stiemsma?  Wilcox is likely going to be resigned and will likely get all of Stiemsma's minutes.

Your thought on somebody like Fournier might have some merit.

I think you misunderstood me. I am talking about other teams. The fact they can become players as good as or slightly better than Stiesma is exactly why I don't know why they want to trade down. I don't think that we should draft these guys. Except maybe Fournier.

What I am saying is sometone like the Bulls could use some scoring off the bench. Why not draft Lamb? Bogut is a glass. Why shouldn't the Warriors look at a possible steal in the end of the 1st on a guy like Melo? This is a deep draft with still rotation potential at the end of the 1st and early 2nd.

This is the most important line in the OP:

per Alex Kennedy at Hoopsworld
"The worst thing that ever happened in sports was sports radio, and the internet is sports radio on steroids with lower IQs.” -- Brian Burke, former Toronto Maple Leafs senior adviser, at the 2013 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference

I think you're underrating Lamb's shooting ability a great deal. Lamb is a much better shooter than Moore is.

I also think that both Melo and Ezeli have greater defensive potential than Stiemsma. Stiemsma can block shots, but often seems lost defensively.
