All celtics issues aside, broussard isAWFUL. He has the basketball savvy of a caveman his views are so archaic. All he does is rehash conventional soundbites like a parrot. He wouldnt understand the concept of a single advanced stat if his life depended on it and would probably be proud ofthat fact.

And didn't Steven A. say we were going to get steamrolled?   ;D

Speakng of Stephen A, wow at that Prometheus trailer with him last night.  **** was that?  I think that movie looks fantastic but it seems like they've spent $1 billion on ads and I don't think it'll be that big of a movie.  That ad was just bizarre.

/off topic  ;D

The only real difference between Broussard and steven i smith is the drawl and delivery.  Between broussard, smith, and the illiterate jamele hill you could fit the combined sports knowledge in a thymbol.  earvin adds even less...He's so absorbed in his own narcissism...Any coherent thought that comes out of his mouth is either wrong or a cliche'.

Bring Stan VanGundy or Reggie Miller to replace earvin.  Hell...Mike Brown or George Karl.

You had me until Reggie Miller... Reggie Miller and Chris Webber were killing me on the broadcasts these playoffs.  Both are just terrible to listen to.

Its too bad guys like Jalen Rose and Tim Legler just get used on Sports Center when they are both so great IMO.  The ESPN NBA pregame/postgame show is just terrible besides Wilbon.  Jon Berry is also awful to listen to.

Honestly, all NBA broadcasting took a big step back this year.  Some of thechoices for the playoffs and in the studio are just no good.

Marv Albert and Steve Kerr are my one bright spot but that's about it.

Broussard is by far my least favorite member of ESPN... I actually think Id rather watch Skip Bayless, its a close call.
And I love his logic

???

Bayless's logic protocol:

1. Determine the most contrarian or reactionary position possible
2. Shout Loudly
3. Repeat

He's the Jay Marrotri of ESPN, a hack who screams to get attention.

I don't think he's a contrarian. He sticks by his picks from preseason and doesn't flip flop

He never changes alot of stuff:
-He's always been critical of Lebron's "clutch gene"
-Picked the Heat to win the title and doesn't back down from it
-Loves the Spurs
-Loves Tebow
-Loves Dwyane Wade
-Thinks Derrick Rose and Westbrook are ruining their teams by being shoot-first point guards
-Says Durant is his favorite player

And I love how animated he is, gives a personality in sports. And no one can deny his funny metaphors
He sticks with whatever hyperbolic attention getting position he screams first.

That's not logic, its just consistent hackery. A good analyst can change his mind if the facts or evidence changes in front of him.

Even if you agree with his positions you should be able to see that if you listen/read good sports writers/analysts.

I think you personally doesn't like him because he criticizes Lebron James

Skip logic is better than most. He knows how to break down the game and give great points on what went wrong and how a team can adjust to winning the next game. The other so called "good" writers are kiss ups to the star players and try to play buddy buddy with them. All of their decisions are based of a bias of the players they love. The difference with Skip is that he exclaims his love for Tebow, Spurs, etc. and has no problem crticizing them as if he was not a fan of them

The key word is unbiased reporting. I don't care how much information a reporter has or experience they have, if they are biased, they lose all credibility IMO

What makes you think I like LBJ? Can't stand the guy.

Honestly I can't say when my dislike for Skip began, it likely was when he first got on TV in 2004. Remember this is the guy kept going on "Kevin Gar-NOT" which always bothered me as I was rooting for KG's Twolves to beat the Lakers those two playoff series.

Once KG became a Celtic is really infuriated me, especially when KG was fantastic in the title run (and was fantastic in the fourth).

He's always been a blowhard trying to "stir up controversy" by yelling loudly opinions calculated to get a reaction. But people like that, otherwise he wouldn't be on the air. (and Jay Marrotti/Woody Paige/etc all would never have gotten jobs)

Disagree 100% with regards to Reggie Miller and Chris Webber. Webber in particular. How do you not like the guy? His commentary is usually spot-on, insightful, and he's charismatic to boot. He was also great when he was a studio analyst.

Marv Albert, Steve Kerr, Mike Breen, and JVG are also awesome. I just wish Mark Jackson was still part of the Breen/JVG/Jackson trifecta, as that was my favorite announcing crew by far.

i just dont know what Chris Broussard did to get on that panel. he really doesn't provide anything that the next halfway decent NBA fan could offer. luck of the draw i suppose

Funny that you say this(I do agree with it)..just the other day, I can't remember whether it was before G3 or G2 of the Celtics/Heat series or Thunder/Spurs series but he said something pretty weird..and Magic chimed in mentioning how Broussard isn't a permanent lock on that panel and isn't guaranteed to come back next year and to watch what he says. I can't remember the exact words he said but it was something similar to that..and granted, Magic said it in a joking way but you do have to wonder if there was some truth behind the statement. Did anyone else catch this?

As far as the panel as a whole goes, I don't really mind Magic, and I like Wilbon..I can do without Broussard and Jon Barry. Broussard for reasons mentioned in this thread already; and for Jon Barry, it just seems he's always so negative and critical and sarcastic. He tries to be funny by being sarcastic(and to me, fails. Some people can pull off the sarcastic/funny spiel, while plenty others just become 'that guy') and I don't really feel that he adds anything to the panel. I'll have to agree with some of you guys here and say that these NBA panels have been lacking this year.

And on to my final point..does it really matter WHO is a Celtics hater? At all? It makes no difference on the outcomes of the games. Personally I'd rather have less press and be the underdog that no one talks about rather than get hyped up. I swear it seems some of you want everyone to respect the Celtics and say how good they are or can be, but at the same time want to be the underdog. (I'm not directing this at you, Potapenko) Being the underdog is better, if you lose then you lose. If you win then you win and it feels better in a sense because no one expected it and it comes as more of a surprise, ala the 2009-2010 Celtics. You can't tell me that post season wasn't 'magical'...besides game 7.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
He's not necessarily a Celtic hater as much as he is a Lebron, Wade, Kobe "richard" rider if you get my drift :P.

I have little to no appreciation for Broussard and his work.

The dude is a hack.

In the ESPN pregrame show, the panel chose their predictions on who would win game 4. When the show was closing the whole crew were teasing Wilbon that he chose Boston to win. Broussard then said:
"Please you actually think Celtics would win this game, that is wishful thinking. There is no chance they'll win". Then chuckled

This really shows how bias ESPN is. Most of the time I miss the pregrame and halftime because it just makes sickens my stomach by how much they kiss the Heat's behinds. Its so obvious he's a Celtics hater. He's never picked the Celtics in any series they played unless its obvious Celtics would win. You could see how steamed he was when the Celtics won this game

You also can see his blind worshipping of Lebron during the 2011 NBA Finals

Dude, I hear u. It is what it is with ESPN. That network lost it's integrity ages ago. The loudest voices make the most noise. As long as Lebron or Wade, are playing the media will carry the water for them. ESPN continues to assume Miami, has no flaws, but they do just any other team.

Idiots like Stephen A.Smith and Chris Broussard are fixated on Miami and the obsession will never change. That is why I'm disappointed that ESPN has all the coverage for this series and not TNT.

Here's my solution or tips for Celtics fans and basketball fans in general that don't like ESPN's coverage.

Change the channel before the game starts and after if u don't want to hear Chris Broussard speak. Change the channel if u don't want to hear Stephen A.Smith speak. Simple!

Just imagine if Hubie Brown did the pregame-postgame show for ESPN. That would be awesome

THIS!!!  I would watch pre-game, post-game and during game call to see Hubie. IMO he is the best hands down. So knowledgeable, absolutely NO bias to any team and he knows when teams are playing the right way. I miss him calling games.

I like Webber, even though he does not have the greatest delivery but he seems to be biased to the C's ;-)

While he doesn't have VanGundy's flair for making sarcasm humorous..Barry at least knows what he's talking about.  Listening to earvin...It's like he forgot everything about the entire game of basketball as soon as he stopped playing.  I write off steven, jamele, and broussard off as never having known anything in the first place.  Barry's not a favorite by any means...But I wouldn't turn the channel upon hearing his voice like I do earvin, steven, hill or broussard.  Problem is sometimes a person can't get to the remote fast enough.

VanGundy's sarcasm is more parody than sarcasm in that VanGundy's sarcasm is based in fact.
