Why didn't we punishing them with size?  Where was Steamsa?
When Miami goes small they take apart Greg forcing him to foul.

Does Stiemsma really foul that much? I think he just gets no respect from refs (unfortunately).

Nothing to do with refs, he has bad discipline. He always brings his arms down instead of going up right, and he's too slow in the pick and roll at the moment and keeps shoving ball handlers.
He's also slow footed and slow reacting compared to KG/Bass.

Puts himself behind against the quickness of Miami's guards/forwards.

The problem with Bass though is that he doesn't know how to man the center position and protect the basket. Time after time he was too worried about who he was guarding instead of being that extra layer against the ball handler trying to get the basket.

So we really can't go one big with Bass. One thing I'd consider is going 5 small, and switch everything on defense. Don't know if it'd work. Or maybe just play Hollins, but with KG on the bench and Pierce then getting into foul trouble, it makes it a bit difficult to produce any offense against this team.

Bass isn't long enough to bother shots and isn't a good team defender. Hollins is just as bad defensively, worse on the boards, and far worse on offense.

I'd rather have Bass on the court than 5 small, our rebounding is bad enough as it is. But anytime KG is off the court and Miami is going small I hold my breath.

We dont have any size to punish them with. even when garnett is in the game we have trouble getting inside. and when the heat play their small lineup, the best thing we can do is match up against them.

At least Steamer is a decent rebounder and can provide some shot blocking presence.   He is very active in the paint and you need that playing Wade and James.  Even Chalmers has been getting to the rim in this serious.  That can't happen..

Celts offense goes as Rondo goes...

They get to the rim against Greg too, just matter of whether its 2 FTA or 1 FTA on an and one play.

I've been loving the small ball battles out there in this series.  KG needs his rest at times, though.
I'm not madly in love with Brandon Bass as our lone big, but I'm not sure I trust Steamer or Hollins any more than him without KG at their side.

Stiemsma isn't good so he was on the bench.

SEAN WILLIAMS PLEASEEEEEEEE GIVE HIM A SHOT

HE CAN BLOCK SHOTS LIKE A BEAST and is athletic enough to guard pick and roll

Absolutely bizarre thread and calling for Sean Williams to play more in this series takes the cake. We are inching towards a huge upset in this series and you are begging to play a guy who hasn't played a meaningful minute of basketball in ages. Incredible.

I agree, (TP) ... honestly couldn't believe the title of this thread, or that anyone who knows anything about Doc could even suggest something like it, (rhetoric notwithstanding). I guess absurdity grows with emotion.

If this team didn't have a coach like Doc (or Pop for that matter), not a shot we get this far.

Miami is not the team you need a traditional 5 against, they have ZERO post offense threats and they aren't even a good rebounding team from what I have seen.  That is why Perkins was traded last year - Danny saw that Miami was the team we needed to beat in the Eastern Conference (not Orlando anymore.)

We just need Bass to stop getting in foul trouble.

I do agree, give williams some time.  game 5 might be when he's needed coming off three games in a row of heart-attack city!

Sean williams should not see any time in this series unless it is an abosolute blowout and we are sparing the good players.

If we got Sean Williams in the mid season instead of Hollins, I might agree that he should get minutes. I also want Doc to play him during the last games of the season but he only got a limited playing time. It's too late for him to be inserted in the rotation. Next season will be another question if he resign here.

Lebron and sometimes Chalmers got to basket way too easy!  Steamsa should get a few minutes to block some shots and/or to give a few hard fouls.  Just a few minutes of that.  Not asking him to play big minutes.
