Remember, we traded Perk & Nate for Jeff Green because the Magic were starting to self-destruct and the Heat weren't going to beat us in the low block*.

And believe it or not we could REALLY use Jeff Green right about now.

Perk has always had trouble defending the pick and rolls with Big Men. San Antonio is the best out there running pick and rolls. He does better against teams that drive to the hole like My Hammy or against teams that use the post up offense like the Lakers.

I am just saying that this is not a good match-up for him in his series against San Antonio.

I just wish Danny had been more patient and explored sign and trade options with Perkins at this last lockout off-season but it might not have mattered that much.

He is horrible. He has butter fingers, he can't finish at the rim, can't rebound, sets illegal screens, gets unnecessary techs, and is slow as molasses. Danny dodged a bullet by not re-signing him.

1 championship with Perk... 0 without him.

1 championship with PJ Brown.... 0 without him.

1 championship with James Posey.... 0 without him.

1 championship with Tony Allen.... 0 without him.

You get the idea.

1 championship with Clifford Ray...... 0 without him.

I'm glad we don't have to pay Perk's salary, but he would be better than Steimsma/Hollins.

The real thing that's a downer is that the CP3 trade lowered that pick by about 10 places. But that's the risk you take when trading for a future picks.

This is why it only took me 1 day to get over the trade.  I really like Perk and was shocked at the trade, but Perk was pretty bad at just about everything except man to man defense.

do you think there's any chance they will amnesty him?

yeah I think so. Honestly I'd take him back if possible (though he'd probably demand too much). It would be sick having Perk and Green. DA would look like a genius haha

There's a ton of talk in OKC about cutting Perk loose next year because they're going to have to resign Ibaka and Harden.

4 for 36. Stupid money. LOL at Presti.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Hmmm! You might be on to something there with the Clifford Ray comment. BTW he did mentor Robert Parish so you could argue 4 championships with Clifford Ray ....... 0 without him.

I get it to sign Harden, but I don't see the value for OKC to amnesty Perk (which means they still have to pay him) to then re-sign Ibaka (who is better but similar).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Two points on a couple of prior posts:

The Clipps did drop by about 10 picks after  the CP3 trade , but without it they may have been a lottery and the pick was protected  in that case

Tes they would still have to pay Perk with amnesty, but he would not count against the cap, therefore freeing up $$$ for Harden and Ibaka

Yea ..wouldn't mind seeing a healthy J.Green and Perk on our side against the cHeat this series.

We are just plain missing too many key and role players for this team to click on all cylinders.  :'(

As a longtime Perkins supporter, I'm quite frankly shocked, to say the least, at some of the Perk comments here.

But...what is the saying nowadays......"To Each His Own"...?

But anyways....

OKC has, unfortunately, caught lightning in a bottle in the form of a seemingly rejuvenated Tim Duncan, Manu, and Parker - especially Tim.

I haven't seen Tim play like this in about 3-4 years, to be honest. He's drinking some of the same stuff our own KG is drinking.

Manu has managed to get healthy, for a change. He's gone through such a rough stretch health-wise the last few years.

OKC is experiencing the Perfect Storm, unfortunately.

Perk? To be honest, from what I've seen he hasn't played THAT bad...Tim Duncan has benefited from a system that has kept him fresh up to this point, and the man obviously smells blood in the water...his (and the Spurs) window is closing, and he's well-rested. Tim Duncan is simply putting it out there on the floor - all of it.

With that being said, Perk's perfect storm would be if he had KG to play alongsides, IMO. Perkin's play during this series CANNOT be attributed to simply HIM.

Look at Scott Brooks...the man had SERGE of all people sitting for most of Game 1?? I could tell during the media's question and answer period that he admittedly seemed to be searching for a way to shake things up with his bigs.

Scott Brooks hasn't been in this kind of situation before with his team, to where it seems as if nothing is working vs their opponent.

Westbrook is getting exposed, too...he is still an explosive scorer but his defense is lacking at times.

Durant isn't stopping people, either.

Let's be real, here----if The Boston Celtics can somehow get by MIA, and meet (probably) the Spurs in the NBA finals - does ANYONE here see Manu and Parker scoring like that against BOS?

Nope.

What is happening to OKC is NOT just Perk's fault, as I am interpreting some of the posts here to state. He is STILL a top 5-Defensive Center in the game.

I'm betting that he'd still average 10 pts, 9-10 rebs if he still played alongside KG.

What's happened with the trade has happened...I'm looking forward to Jeff Green perhaps coming back next year, and looking to see what Danny does with that draft pick we acquired.

But Kendrick Perkins is just NOT as bad as some here are stating.

Perk probably does have a bad matchup against SA but the thing that stands out to me the most is how inept he is on offense. He couldn't even post up and finish against Boris Diaw! They were throwing him perfect passes downlow and he either traveled or came up empty every single time. I have never seen a big man travel nearly every time he receives the ball down low like Perk does.

I agree. Who needs a presence in the paint that actually makes people think twice about driving to the hoop?

Yea, like he is doing so well against Manu (especially) and Parker... they NEVER drive to the paint in that series... Perk has them scared to step foot into the paint... oh wait...  ::)

The Spurs are by far the best team in the NBA. Not saying Perk is playing well against them, but.....Whatever. Not worth arguing anymore against those who do not love The Perk.
