I understand that people say it doesn't matter what Perk's stats are, but they are HORRIBLE! How can you explain 3 rebounds a game? 4 points? It's rediculous how much he gets paid to average 4 and 3.
He was (rightly) considered one of the top post-up defenders at the five spot in the league for a few years. Defense is a notoriously hard thing to gauge from a box score, especially when you're playing with dudes like Westbrook, Durant, and Ibaka. Guys that jump high and grab rebounds so you don't have to.
I think Perk's big problem is that they're aren't a whole lot of big men who bang down low right now outside of Bynum and Howard. Remember, we traded Perk & Nate for Jeff Green because the Magic were starting to self-destruct and the Heat weren't going to beat us in the low block*.
*And, of course, Quis's spinal injury left us without a real backup for Paul.
