So what was each person's biggest plan thwarted by a fellow GM?

For me, it was Rondo2287, that devious scoundrel. Coming into Round 4, I had a plan. I had a very tenuous chance at grabbing a PG and a pick in exchange for Nash. My plan was to take a more 'traditional' center with my first pick (one of sabonis or Bynum), and with the pick acquired via trade (assuming it went down), I'd grab Brandon Roy.

Rondo killed that pipe dream. Not that I'm upset with the team I have now, I really like it, I think I rounded it out very well, and built a solid 5 around Pippen and Nash. But, there wads that dream.

Im sorry about ruining your plan, but I love Roy in this game, one year and somebody that you want to root for

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Oak is a guy we all probably wanted, but a guy I think could've waited a round or dos.

Great part of a great team, but maybe a bit early, especially with the gap at the 3. Gonnna need a very talented player there, a guy who will really help you move the ball and stretch the floor.

That was part of it for me, but I had another design as well. I'm a big believer in having multiple solid sound leaders. Nash is one such leader, Pippen is another. If I was going to trade Nash, I needed another general who lead by example. I think Roy is one of those guys.

Have to disagree, but maybe that's an age thing. ;)

I spent many years watching this guy absolutely destroy and muck up every Celtics game defensively ... he was the player no other team wanted to see on the floor.

More than just a bee in everyone's bonnet, he was a bull in amongst the gazelles, and he made everything for opponents as difficult as very few others have..

All-Defensive First Team (94), ADST (98), but I'm probably gonna go with 86-87, when he averaged 14.5 PPG and 13.1 RBP.

My thwarting was done by myself. Shouldve picked pau, but was worried about picking him so early because hed get killed alongside webb defensively. Thought i couldnt use my second for that, but offense wouldve been easier to construct.

Edit: and I also believe a leader has to have the ball in his hands and has to be one of if not the best players on the court. That's why I wanted Roy next to Pippen, Rondo got a heck of a steal there.

I think I have pick number four tomorrow, and there are four very talented SFs left, so I should be fine there ... wanted to take a three now, but I couldn't pass on Oak, (and I'm NOT working tomorrow ... supposedly ;)).

I like Oak. I think he'll be one of the best backup PFs.

Hard as nails defender/rebounder. Very intelligent. Good passer with a serviceable jump-shot. Leadership.

I've got three guys I really want from tomorrow.  Be curious to see if I can land at least two with my picks.

Agree with all that, just think it was a little early for him.

Hence tony parker, Tim Duncan and Brandon Roy.  :-)
