So much passing, but there could always be more.

Shawn Marion blah blah, out of position blah blah, Steve Nash blah blah, better as a power forward.

I think Marion would have a pretty hard time at the four in this CB Historical League. So much size and talent there. Life would be a lot harder for him.

I expect he'll be better off as a small forward as a high level defender/rebounder.

With their 5th round pick, the Memphis Grizzlies select:  Bruce Bowen

No really a big Bowen fan this early. Elite defender, but I can think of at least 2 other guys who I see as on par with Bowen on one side of the ball but way more gifted on the other.

Good pick. I really wanted to pick him for 5.3 as my outside shooter. Just thought Rice is far too much talented to pass but great pick. Elite defense, solid outside shooter. Dirty player. Ewing would've liked his game.

Slightly more in depth, I'm having a hard time visualizing how your offense would run. Is there an NBA team past/present you could compare to in order to help me out.

I think I might just do that.

Im not really patterning my team into any team from the past or present. Other than Penny I took what I think is the best talent. All I know is Grant and Penny both averaged 7 assists in the seasons I picked them. While they might not score as much, there's no doubt they'll be sharing the ball. Rice opens up the floor and Ewing is the post option.

I guess that's essentially my point; there's the argument over the importance of the balance between talent and team chemistry. I'm wondering if this team went too far just selecting best player available, and not enough on chemistry. I don't know how this team would work together.

So much size on the perimeter and some good passing, just not sure there's a clear best player among 4 score first guys and all of them have the right to claim to be the primary offensive option.

That is kind of the beauty of the team. 3 legit scorers who you can't leave alone or will do damage. 2 of them are willing passers if get doubled (Grant and Penny averaged 7 assist a game). One can drift out to the three area to space the floor. And as always, there's that low post fade away one hander. But as of right now, Penny is the primary option on offense since just because he's used to playing point.

I think Bowen is a good pick.  In a draft like this you can't have all 20ppg scorers at every position.  It can help the argument for your team to have some great role players in starting roles.

On a side note, my original strategy after I drafted Payton was to go all defense.  Figured I'd select either Mourning or Mutombo 2 picks later, then draft Joe Dumars at the end of Round 3, and possibly Dennis Rodman at the start of Round 4, with guys like Eddie Jones, Bruce Bowen, Ben Wallace, Ron Artest, and Tyson Chandler as possible alternatives if my guys were off the board or select them as my backups in later rounds.  Surprised at how high those guys were all drafted but can't say I hate the picks.  Just didn't think there would be so many defensive-minded GMs out there.

JO is a good pick.  I like him better as a PF than a center, though.

That is exactly who I wanted to see San Antonio pick. I think Steve Nash will be great for Jermaine (get him some easier shots, get his FG% up) and that JO will work very well in an uptempo offense. A very good blend of offense, defense and rebounding there with JO.

Excellent pick. My favourite pick of this round so far (in terms of value and fit).
