Thoughts on the Celtics? Dirk, CP3, Vince Carter?
Lots of offense. I really like the interplay between them as a trio.

I agree with Who.

I know of ONE SF/SG that you could possibly add to that bunch, and that group would make Don Nelson blush.

I like that team. Need Defense now.

The funny thing is that the player I am talking about was an elite defender - for 1 season...and he was one of the best scorers I've ever seen play.

Love the defensive trio.

Will be interesting to see who your 1st line of defense will be.

Ben Wallace was one of my guys last year - right along with Kareem and KG.

Could they limit teams here in this format? In most cases I'd say yes.

Just from my perspective, I think Yao could score over Ben with some challenge..KG and Tim would practically be a wash.

Right now, for my team I don't have an answer for Ron Ron..and I don't think anyone else here does as of yet. Too strong and quick for a SF.

If there was ANY knock on Ron Ron from me, he wasn't a particulary great shooter from deep, according to basketball reference.com. But his defense makes up for that in a lot of cases.

Very strong backcourt and a terrific facilitator in Dwight Howard

Very good foundation to build from.

I was still toying around with where to play those guys.  Admittedly I didnt really start following basketball until 2002.  When duncan was young and MVP was he more effective as a center?

Better switch that back vs the Lakers...KG outplays Ben according to head-to-head finder.

Tim outplays Yao by a small margin.

Well Head to Head only tells you so much.  There are some other players on the court.  I think h2h is a usefull tool but shouldnt be the only consideration

He was always a center. He just played some minutes at PF.

The year you choose, 2002-03, Duncan split his minutes about 50-50 between the five and four. Even more so in the playoffs.

Furthermore, you could argue (many do) that even when on the court with David Robinson, Duncan played the center role more than Robinson did. Duncan was more of an interior presence for San Antonio and everything worked around him.

As for Ben Wallace, I believe he'll fare better as PF in this CB Historical League than as a center. The talent (skilled size) at center is much greater here than when Big Ben was at his peak. He'll be more effective individually, and Duncan-Wallace as a defensive combo, with Big Ben as the PF spot (superior quickness over Duncan). Of course, they can still be interchangeable when desirable.

For me though, I just can't consider Big Ben a center on a team with Tim Duncan on it. Duncan is the guy that everything works around. Big Ben is the guy that plays a supporting role. Duncan does everything you want/expect from a center in all three phases while Big Ben does on defense/rebounding but not offensively.

I don't know, it's just how I look at teams. A guy like Duncan should be listed as a center and a player like Wallace, if alongside a Duncan, should be a PF.
