So e things will never change.  The kid cant shoot and in this series, against some athletic guys, he can't  finish at the rim.  And when thy decide to put Lebron on rondo, there's NOTHING he can do.  So while there will be many posters complaining about rondo not being aggressive or not being into the game, that's just not the case.  He simply is limited with what he can do.

Rondo is a pass first point guard so of course he ain't looking to shoot. I think his confidence goes down after he misses a few shots. He needs to go right at James or Wade when they are guarding him. They might be stronger and bigger than him but don't let them sit there and not waste any energy. That's why they put them on Rondo so they don't get tired chasing Ray Ray and Pierce around the floor.

Next game hopefully Rondo attacks more and gets the defense to fall on him which leads to open shots. This game was just him sitting still and not doing much on offense.

This is Rondo. That 2010 Rondo destroying the Cavs is long gone IMO. I think he's more worried about getting hammered in the paint and just not confident enough in his shot.

The problem is not Rondo the problem is they rely on him way too much. He's getting no help from anyone except KG.

In order to notch an assist, the recipient of the pass has to make a shot. Looking at our fg% in the 2nd half, that obviously wasn't happening. Not sure how that is all Rondo's fault.

This isn't about Rondo.  It's about LeBron and, to a lesser extent, Wade.  When they're locked in, they have the ability to shut down any perimeter player in the league, with the possible exception of Kobe.

Last year, Derrick Rose was the MVP.  Yet when LeBron switched onto him in the ECF, he couldn't score.  I don't think it's fair to grill Rondo for his performance; LeBron is just that good.

What about the Spurs? They have so many options that they are capable of shutting him down.

He's a limited offensive player.  He's a great set-up guy, but when the players he's setting up aren't hitting shots his stat line struggles.

Criticizing Rondo is like criticizing some delicious mashed potatoes.  You need your steak and veggies.  Potatoes play a role and it plays an important role, but it it's not the juicy steak that is the epicenter of a meal.  That's a guy like LeBron or KG.  KG is the rib eye.  He's a superstar.  Rondo will never be the best player on a championship team.  His ceiling if he has a really good supporting cast would be Jason Kidd's Nets teams.  They made the finals in a godawful Eastern Conference, but ultimately were fodder for a real champion.  Love Rondo to death, but he's not a reliable scorer and you need scoring to win a title.

If Miami gets through us, then I really, really hope the Spurs are waiting for them on the other side.  LeBron and Wade are going to score, but the Spurs are so deep and execute so well on offense that I think they can outgun them.

Of course a team needs scorers to win. Rondo is a superstar player.  When Pierce, Garnett, and Allen all retire, I'm hoping that Ainge brings in some guys who can score the basketball.  If not, then the Celtics won't be any good.

This seems to go without saying, though.

Celtics18... i love you buddy, but Rondo isn't a superstar player.  He's an all-star point guard who occasionally has flashes of brilliance.   KG in his prime was a superstar.  Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, Durant in their prime = Superstar players.  Pierce and Ray both were franchise players and on the cusp of superstardom in their prime, but never totally got there.  Rondo is a poor man's Jason Kidd (in his prime).  You could argue that Jason Kidd was a franchise player for a couple years in Jersey and if everything falls into place, Rondo might reach "Franchise Player" status for a couple years too. Never a superstar, though.

It's often said that the main thing that separates the great players from the rest is consistency.  Don't take consistency lightly.  Rondo has games where he's the best player on the floor, but it doesn't happen nightly.  There's a reason why Danny Ainge was desperately trying to trade Rondo + extras for Chris Paul.  There's a reason why he was rumored to have offered Rondo for the likes of Pau Gasol and Steph Curry only to be turned down.  Rondo's fantastic, but neither his own team or the rest of the league views him as a "franchise cornerstone superstar".  He's a wonderful player with real flaws and they come out often enough for it to be an issue.

I think we all are tired as hell that's why, that game 7 took a lot out of us hopefully we can recover and snatch the next one.
