As much as I am a fan of the current "Big 4", I think this series, injuries, and postseason has proved that some roster changes must ensue whatever happens in this current postseason.
So for the next season, I have some ideas for the upcoming off-season, in which the primary objective will be to build around Rondo. After this gruesome Philly series, I think the Celtics are in dire need of some young, explosive legs with the ability create for themselves. While difficult to pry from the star-hungry Hornets, I believe that Ainge should strongly chase after restrictive free agent Eric Gordon. Also signing Lou Williams, if he could be had for cheap, would fit the "6th-man prolific scoring option niche" pretty nicely. After this excruciating scoring issue is resolved, our secondary goal should be to sign an athletic big that can alter shots and crash the boards, someone like the notorious Javale McGee, whom many of you may still detest and rebuke for his frequent bone-headed actions. However, under the tutelage of the veterans in this team, I think he can add a lot to the signature Celtics defense while also fortifying rebounding. Also, if Garnett doesn't decide to call it a career after this post-season run, it would be imperative that the Celtics re-sign him as well.
Of course, obtaining the financial flexibility to make these off-season moves would mean abandoning seeing Ray Allen in a green uniform, and as much as it hurts me to say this, I think it's time we brought in some young legs to run with Rondo. So in a hypothetical situation where all of these goals are realized, next year's roster could look like this:
Starting Core:
PG: Rondo
SG: Gordon
SF: Pierce
PF: Bass
C: Garnett
Relevant Bench Players:
PG/SG: Bradley, Williams
SF: Green, Pietrus
C: McGee
What do you guys think? Would this be feasible?
