I'm almost in the same boat as LarBrd, in that I appreciate basketball played well.
LeBron plays the game of basketball astonishingly well. So does Kobe. So does Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and a host of other NBA players who have donned various uniforms and shoe companies over the years. I have seen those guys each do things that elevate the game (and often themselves) to the level of an art form. I don't hate on LBJ for that.
Nor do I hate on him as a person. I don't know him.
But this dude is the most talented basketball player of his generation, and he's going to be around for a long while. And he chose to squander his prime prancing around south beach, taking ill-advised cues from his fashion designers, and latching on to another pair of the top five/ten players in the game to, I suspect, ensure that his legacy includes at least one championship and he isn't regulated to that weird Barkley-Malone zone for superstars that didn't end up with rings.
That bums me out.
Also, in regards to the "most valuable" thing... I don't think LBJ should have won it this year, because I don't think MVP should be " the Best player on a winning team most people enjoy watching."
Ultimately, I think that the Rookie & Sixth man awards get a whole lot closer to what I think of as "Most Valuable." Kyrie Irving is much more valuable to the Cavs than LeBron is to the Heat (though certainly not more valuable than LeBron was to the Cavs).
