Can't agree with Chris Paul 1st team (or second) or Kobe Bryant 2nd team.  But the glaring thing is WHO ; I MEAN WHO gave the vote to Carlos Boozer?  He works at not playing defense, Noah should get extra votes for playing with the guy.

Ha, Carlos Boozer got a vote.
WHAT!?

That deserves a  :o and then a ::).

Yeah, I had the same reaction.

Whoever voted for him should get their voting rights revoked.

  • Anything is possible!
Are you kiddin me,

I just don't get it how people can vote Serge Ibaka as a better defender then Kevin Garnett. KG should have been all NBA first team instead of second! Ibaka is better at shotblocking but that's it.

Next to that, Chandler is DPOY and gets in all NBA second defensive team. Doesn't make sense, does it?

Rondo and KG got robbed.  They should have been first teamers over Paul and Ibaka.

I'm happy for TA.  Congrats to him, and well deserved!!

How is the Defensive Player of The Year on the second team?

People who thought Chandler was the best defensive center also thought he was the best defensive player overall.  People who thought Howard was better than Chandler at defense did not think that Howard was the best defensive player overall.  Basically, Chandler's support was firmer.

The best analogy I can think of is if you consider what American elections look like with a first-past-the-post system where there is only one winner in each Congressional district, vs a proportional voting system in a parliamentary government.  Different systems can create different winners.

right.....

 ::)

Blocks!
Yipee!!!!

Kind of like how Camby was apparently the best defender in the league even though his nuggets were an atrocious defensive team

This isn't true, coaches vote for all-defense team media votes for DPOY. Instead its just the story of a different election with a different electorate.

More Coaches voted for Dwight than Chandler for first team 16 to 13.

Is this "Official"?

I see no mention of it on NBA.Com or ESPN.com.

Also AI got more points than Kobe but got left off because he was a "forward".

So does the media know more about these players than the coaches? Media had Bradley ahead of Rondo, coaches had a vote for Boozer.

Seriously the Boozer thing was a joke right? What kind of bet was going on for that to happen? Or did someone check the wrong box on their scorecard?

Both vote more on reputation than anything else, but media is more susceptible to good "storylines".

Wow, no Andre Iguodala.

Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant have no business being on either team.
Yeah agreed.

AI2 should be the first team SG for certain.

Nope that belongs to Tony Allen.

Kendrick Perkins deserved some votes. He anchors that Oklahoma City defense.

Mike Conley should've been voted higher.

Kobe and CP3 deserved some votes, but not to 1st or 2nd team.

While I like Joe Johnson's game, he shouldn't be on here. Same as Boozer. JJ missed about a qtr of the season.

I guess the reasoning with AB is that he didn't play enough games...but IF that is the case, then how does that explain Joe Johnson?

Dwight Howard and Tyson Chandler need to switch spots.

This seems a bit more like a popularity contest rather than having a lot of substantive analysis. I'd like to see who voted and why they voted how they did.
