Are you sure about Boston having more crime than LA?  That seems a little off.
Far more crime per capita.

Anyway, not to disparage Middle America, but Oklahoma is one of those states where lots of people have guns. When a large group of people with lots of guns gets very drunk and rowdy, things like this unfortunately can occur.

Actually, the opposite is true. Kennesaw, Georgia has seen it's crime rate drop more than 50% since installing this ordinance:

Quote
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.
(b)Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.

The city's website claims the city has the lowest crime rate in the county.

Police have released a photo of the shooter:

They first became suspicious when they learned the perpetrator had to take 30 shots to hit 8.

This is a thread to discuss the incident after the OKC win, not gun control in general. If you want that take it to CE.

Chelm, I understand why statistics exist.  You have to figure out what other towns surrounding LA fall into the LA region and the same goes with Boston.  But I will take your word for it and the statistics presented.  Atleast Boston isn't located in the Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.tiest state in the country.  California is a disaster.

  • GOT IT!!!
When 10,000 congregate outside the arena and a lot of them are thugs this isn't that surprising. I wouldn't be surprised if they do away with Thunder Alley.

Actually Chelm, just take a look at the population sizes of LA compared to Boston.  Just gives you a sense that the statistic taken for LA is a greater spectrum than Boston.  It must incorporate the super wealthy and nice areas of LA.  I don't see Boston's statistic including towns like Wellesly and what not.  That is why that chart is stupid.  You probably should just compare the city of LA to the entire east side of Massachussetts if you want a more appropriate statistic.  This is why I don't buy into statistics like this.

I don't know how you know a lot of those people were thugs but id be surprised if something like this happened in Boston.

With all the parades and championship celebrating over the years haven't had anything like this. Actually it seemed like the only people getting in trouble were the cops
