Pat Riley has done a terrible job the past few years:

In the 2010 draft could have had: Landry Fields
In the 2011 draft could have had: Chandler Parsons, Lavoy Allen, Isaiah Thomas.

Say he goes Allen and Fields, signs a DLeaguer like Steamer.

Do Fields, Allen, Steamer not improve Miami?

It's not just the past few years, in Miami he's done a very poor job in assessing talent. He drafted Wade 5, which was basically a no-brainer, but people forget that who he really was hoping would slide to the 5th pick was Bosh.

I'll believe it when and if it ever happens ... the guy is one of the boggest post-season choke artists, (as far as "superstars" are concerned), of all time. I can see him getting one or two if he gets the right supporting cast consistently, but three or four? Not if precedent bears any weight, and not if caps remain the way they are.

Deep down we all know it. He's just too good not to.

Sorry, I think you're wrong. Lebron has a bad team. It's too reliant on him, Wade and Bosh doing it all. That will not work against some teams, and Lebrons game doesn't carry all that well into his older years. As he gets older, he won't be able to, with that size, keep playing the way he does on fastbreak, long rebound opportunities. And once Lebron is no longer as capable of that kind of incredible speed, which, with his size, probably won't be very long, his window for being able to will teams towards championships will decrease.

Here is the secret to Lebron. Force him to have to be the guy. Don't bail him out with fouls because you THINK he's going to score if you don't foul him. There are times when you should foul him, but some teams don't seem to understand that, or do it at the right times. Teams that do that properly, and there are a number of teams that do, can beat Lebron led teams.

He can be defended without fouling him. Force him to have to make the tough play. You don't necessarily need to stop Lebron, just deal with the rest of his teammates. If Udonis doesn't have that surprising 15 points yesterday, they lose the game.

I don't much care whether he wins one (or more) after this year, but I will consider this year a complete success for the C's if we send him packing one last time.

I don't like Lebron's approach to the game from the standpoint that he's more about the business Lebron James than the basketball player. He came in the league touted as the next Michael and couldn't live up to it. Jordan took his teammates into practice and worked with them for improvement. Lebron demanded trades for guys that locked Cleveland in salary cap wise then took off when he couldn't get it done with those guys absolutely screwing the Cavs.

He's no Larry, he's no Michael, and he’s no Magic. But in a league where sheer talent dominates he will figure out how to win multiple titles through skill alone.

No we all don't. Speak for yourself. Personally I'll wait till he wins his first two before considering if he can make it to 3 or 4.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

still waiting to see if he can even win 1, nevermind 3 or 4.

hope he never gets one.  would really love if it Cleveland wins a title while he goes without.  (assuming the C's don't win them all before he retires  ;)  )

I'd be more than happy with zero, but he'll have to win at least 3 or 4 if he wants to get to his goal of eight in a row.

But when does that "too good" happen?  It is not like he is a rookie, or a second or third year guy (see Durant, Kevin).  Lebron has been in the league for 8 years, and is at his prime age right now (27).  So, you would think this would happen now - he is seasoned and primed.

But is anyone here guaranteeing a Miami championship this year? Or next?

Let's say they don't win...next season he's now going on 28-29.  9 seasons in the league.  And no major injuries to speak of, yet.  Getting close to 30.  He's not going to last forever, particularly with a game that relies so much on speed and power.
Jordan was 27 and in his 7th year when the Bulls first won the title.  He seemed to be fine for the next 8 years (though he took two off in the middle).

Please do not compare Jordan's game to Lebron.  Two totally different players.  When Jordan came back after baseball, he was a predominantly a jump-shooter and back-to-the-basket player.

Lebron puts the ball on the ground and tries to run through people.  I promise you he won't be able to do that at 33-34.

I'm still in the camp that hopes he never wins one.

was Barkely, Stockton and Malone not good enough to win championships? the teams they were on definitely could have won a championship or two. Jordan denied them all those championships

Could Durant or Rose's Bulls possibly deny Lebron? The Heat's team is way too flawed.

He should get 1-2. But I'm not sold on the fact that "he's just that good."

Physically? Yea
In the head? Not sold on it.

Sums up my thoughts, pretty much. Lebron wouldn't be the first great player to be ringless, but he may end up being the best one......
