Trading for Gilbert Arenas will do that for you as a GM.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
"Sweet!" - every team needing a headcoach next season.

"Sweet! Now I can get a GM job somewhere that I'm appreciated!" - a very confused and heartbroken Otis Smith

Otis Smith what took so long?
Van Gundy is sitting back having a margarita, a deep sigh of relief and taking calls for another job.

Next coach to deal with Howard, step up to the plate!

Do SVG and Doc Rivers get along?  Could he be a candidate for that role of Celtics assistant waiting between head coaching gigs?

Portland needs both a new coach and a new GM.

Stan might be a good fit there, and Smith has had experience caving to the whims of a meddlesome owner, so perhaps he'd be the type that Paul Allen is looking for.

You must really hate the Celtics, if you want Stan Van Gundy to come here. He's a bad coach, in my view.

SVG is a good coach. Otis Smith did him no favors. Smith let Howard's ego dictate his job.

The master of panic is not a good coach.  He isn't the worst coach out there, but he is definitely not a good coach.

I would say SVG is a very good basketball mind but a poor to mediocre coach.  Coaching is as much personality as understanding of the game, and the more time you spend with guys the more important the personality part becomes.  SVG seems to really struggle with that part.
