And would anyone believe that Ray's main purpose in playing was to be a freaking Decoy..**** is that. Meaning we are playing 5 on 4 on defense because he is pretty useless on D. And stinking on O.
He was a - 24. That is completely unaceptable. I WISH doc would stop this nonsense now and sit Ray.  At this point Sasha is a better player than Ray. He can D and has got range and rebounds well too.  Please could anyone tell  Doc to have the balls to bench ray.    >:(

Please open your minds CelticNation!!! Why is he bricking FTs while he's not using his 'injured bone spurs.' He's not even running effectively and playing NBA level defence. Not to mention he had the worst +/- in game 4(he was still bad for the whole playoffs) with around -23.

Seriously, this gig Doc's doing with the team is p---ing me off even when we get wins. I rather have Moore, Sasha, Quis, Bradley, and Dooling to all gobble each and single one of his minutes. Please, don't call me a Ray A Hater, I'm just open minded guys.

P.S. Look at Ray Allen's PER in the playoffs and compare it to Kwarme Brown's PER in the season.... :o

you know, sometimes this board is just unbearable after a loss..the next game Ray might come out and put up 20points and the posters will be saying how great he is.

didnt ray have a 17 point game the other night??

i think the sixers have just been doing a good job of keying in on Ray and staying with him..its lead to KG being open alot. but last night he had a pretty bad game

The man is injured and hurting. Probably a lot more than he is letting on. He's probably trying to do everything he can because he realizes at his age with another surgery this could be his last season. Doc is the one who should know when to go in another direction. It seems he's going to ride the big three til the wheels fall off, or in Ray's case his ankles.

3-12 from KG and 7 TOs... call me crazy but somehow I don't have the energy to criticize Ray much.

You know, you can always tell the basketball fans that don't know what the hell they are talking about.

Ray Allen a scrub? The man is playing on a bad ankle, and has helped us win more than a few games already this post season.

In fact, you take Ray Allen out entirely, it's doubtful that we beat the Hawks. So, go ahead and overreact all you want.

I don't say just bench him altogether but if he is playing really poorly in a game then he has to sit in the fourth quarter. Plain and simple. We brought in Peaches for his defense and he has the size to match up with AI, yet he was on the bench while an injured Ray Allen is defending him. That's poor strategy and that is solely on Doc's shoulders.

If Ray is stinking it up, take him out. Don't just cut him out altogether because he can play very well some days.
Take me where the Boston Celtics fans roam free without judgment from my enemies.

The problem is the ankle... I cant believe the guy can move at all. The problem is, its not going to heal on his own. It would be better to bench him for a few games and see if it heals since its only hurting us on the court to play him and not helping the ankle. Unfortunately, he could sit for the rest of the playoffs and the ankle wouldnt heal at this point... he might truly be done after this year

Agreed, KG had a poor night but he still contributes on the defensive end. Ray brings nothing at this point. Don't know whether it's age or injury, but he's playing pretty crappy right now and should have his minutes cut. Instead of going small last night, they should of played Bass or Stiemer over him.

And I really wish the Ray Allen fawning would slow down. He's still an excellent shooter and seems like a great guy, but at his age all he brings is great shooting and respect from refs. And even getting him shots requires multiple screens, which destroys the flow of the offense. I don't think it's a coincidence they've played great when he's sat out

The scrub label doesn't apply because he is hurt, but otherwise you are right on and the people disagreeing are living in a fantasy world.

Ray is giving us NOTHING.  He had one good game all playoffs and since then has had the two worst games I've maybe ever seen him play.  So he should not be playing.

So what if Philly goes "small".  The thing about their small lineup is Thad Young isn't exactly small anyways, even if he is a SF.  So please Doc, play Bass.  He has been playing better.  He can get us the rebounds we so desperately need.  He can give us something on offense.

And if we need a shooter, yes, please play Dooling or Sasha.  They will give us more.

If we run a traditional lineup vs Philly's small one, we might give up some transition baskets or whatever, fine.  But we will be able to rebound better and, again, Ray is giving us NOTHING.  So what's the point?

  • You say when......
I say this is the classic case of the bad coaching....Ray wants to play, just lie pp wanted to play those 2 games he killed US in....and doc had nothing to say about it.......THOSE points are where the COACH takes over and makes the right decision for the good of the TEAM....TEAM...TEAM...i don't want to hear nothing about ray's last year or pp career....this is a mans sport and it is the playoffs....basketball only cares about what you are doing RIGHT NOW...THIS game..! So, you sub out ray and pp...best to try it in the 2nd quarter, see how you chance works....see how your new guy can D-up the man...can he find a way to assist and or score......if so..we go with him until it looks like it isn't working anymore....does doc......hello..does doc....you know the answer to that...like the coach in the waterboy- aka the fonze...no doc freezes up, and just stands there..all these guys on the bench that have shown they can do.....but not while sitting.....so, these two loses to a lesser sixers team....they ARE docs fault, and you know it. if the sixers were so good, and we tried all we had, bench...rotations, different comnbos, it would be different....then we could just say they had us 2x...but we who were watching know better.....another coach.....popovich, obrien..the guy on chicago....jeff van gundy said he and bird both us/play 10.....does doc know better than good ol l bird.....prob not......

I think what bothers me the most about Ray at this point is the total lack of will on the defensive end.  The Atlanta series he would just stand like a chair while people would drive down the lane and dunk.  It don't expect him to all of a sudden become like Glen Davis and step in for the charge, but showing the motivation to take a foul and prevent the 2 might show something.  I don't know if its injury, or a lack of motivation due to a perceived slight from management, but if all he is going to give us spacing you need to go with another option.

TP. I love Ray to death, and yes he was very bad last night, but i just cannot blame him for how we allowed the Sixers to score 60 points in the second half. You play with fire you get burned. We toyed with them in the second half, threw lazy passes, didn't get back, didn't hustle, and we lost just like we did in game 2.

WHO LEFT HIM IN...? Same guy who left pp in when he was dragging....doc...2 games pp was flat from minute 1....told both teams he was hurt, couldn't move laterally......hmmmm, i am the guy guarding pp, and doug colllins...so with this new info...i should "take it easy on pp?"  anyone is flat on both ends, you pull them, try someone else tonight.....yes, you can try the rays and pps next game...but when you are hurt.....you sit....we HAVE others...

lol it's amazing how people are acting as if Ray is playing historically bad defense...

He's never been a great defender other than in spurts for us.... But my god, he's not that bad, at all.

KG stunk last night. End of debate.
