The C's just didn't care. I agree with everyone who has said that the Celtics went into this series thinking they were going to walk all over Philly. Like Barkley said, the C's have no respect for the Sixers. Winning game 1 didn't help either as it gave them even more assurance that they could just dismantle the Sixers like its a cake walk.

But it took until the 4th quarter surge from Bradley/Pietrus for them to realize that the Sixers were for real. And by then it was too late, as they made bad decisions and continued turning the ball over, and the Sixers continued hitting shots.

I have no idea if this loss will lit up a fire in the Celtics to finally take their opponents seriously and playing with a sense of urgency, instead of playing down to their opponents level; because they have a tendency to do that, even in the regular season- and it cost them games.

Celts just didn't take care of business. Both teams brought a lot of fight and put the refs in a tough situation. Coulda gone either way. Lots of tough calls. You can't blame it on refs.

They were pretty consistent as far as not calling anything at all. KG was just getting mugged in the post all night but as long as they don't call it when we are playing defense I'm fine with it.

That last call is pretty tough though. Yeah it was a foul but so were a 100 other plays during the game. Just seems crazy to call that in that situation. I didn't even think it was that bad (or anything KG doesn't literally do on every single pick)

This loss has woke the Celtics up. You can be [dang] sure of that. And, to be completely honest, they only really fell asleep in part the 3rd. Bass had a lot of makeable shots that simply wouldn't fall no matter what.

if we were healthy we'd make quick work of Philly.  Unfortunately we're pretty banged up.

We didn't lose this one due to health. We lost it because we fell asleep in the 3rd, we pressured the 76ers hard in the 4th, and the 76ers got a bunch of lucky circus shots to fall. That won't happen often. It reminds me of what happened with the Hawks.

Same story. 1-1 at the start of that series. There's nothing different in my eyes. These 76ers are clearly not as good as the Celtics, and it's pretty [dang] obvious even in this loss.

When you mess around and dont take an opponent seriously, all it takes is a few lucky shots at the end and they can beat you.

This game was a classic regular season Celtic game when facing "not so tough" competition.

Celtics are by far the better team, we have the best 3 players on  the court, by far, and our team knows this, this is why they put up half assed effort until the 4th quarter.

This team has been messing around when playing bad teams for the past 5 years.

Philly is an 8th seed, they arent good and dont even deserve to be in the playoffs still but got lucky with Rose and Noah injuries.

Our team will beat them silly in 5 or 6 games.

Pretty much this.

Classic "bad Celtics" of the New Big 3 Era: fail to take a lesser opponent seriously until it's too late. I'm not tipping my cap to the Sixers, since this was more a case of Boston losing it than Philly winning it, same as in Game 5 vs. Atlanta. Guys not hitting open, easy shots, playing sloppy and listless, routinely going five or six minutes without a single field goal--sometimes not even a single point--which is absolutely ridiculous for an NBA team.

Home-court advantage was nice for that one game it lasted.

Am I the only one who noticed that the Sixers hit a bunch of fairly improbably shots down the stretch of that game.  Sure our D could have been better, should have been better, but hats off to the Sixers.  They made plays, and now they've made a series of it.

It was not our offense that was the problem down the stretch.  I think we scored about 13 points in the final four minutes.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

We lose this series unless the ball starts moving consistently in the halfcourt offense.

Remember where you heard this. I question whether Doc can impress the need for ball movement on this group.

This team moves the ball better than any team left in the playoffs with the possible exception of the Spurs.

Making some more shots would help.

Too much standing still on offense. Whenever Ray plays big minutes it seems this team likes to stand around and watch him bust his behind trying to get around screens. Not his fault but if Ray is still proppy I don't see doc's motivation to play him 20 minutes more than Bradley who can really run at full speed.

Too many jumpshots aswell. Paul Pierce has the best defender on him, so others need to attack their defender and get to the line.

I would have also liked to have seen Marquis play. His defense on the hawks in the time he got was excellent and he caused several turnovers which lead to easy baskets. His size and quickness is useful to defend all of Philly's wing size players aswell. Not to mention you're giving pierce some extra blow.

"Proppy"? Is that Aussie for "slightly broken"?

Kinda :P... Means iffy/wobbly/not 100% fit to go/carrying an injury....

I know Avery is having constant shoulder issues aswell but I am seeing a trend in these past playoff games where Avery's minutes are slowly reducing and Ray's are increasing, and that worries me because Avery's energy on both ends was the main catalyst for us playing better basketball. Through no fault of his own, Ray's presence seems to hinder the offense just as much as it helps at this point.

Celtics needed a sweep. Giving this away is a joke.

Solely on the shoulders of Doc and Pierce.

Fixed that for you.

One could tell we were going to lose down the stretch.  I thought they were hot and their energy level was great.   We didn't deflate them at any point.  I think we did play "cute", Barkley even saw it and mentioned it.
