Here it is:

Josh Smith (13.3 MIL owed for his last year)

FOR

Jajuan Johnson (Locked up for the next 4 years)
+
1st Round pick

---------------------------------------------------------------

At first it seems like not even close to enough for a player of Josh Smith's character. But if you look at it close for both sides it could make sense.

Boston has a bunch of cap room with not really too many great options out there in free agency. Trading for Smith would give them a year with him in BOS before you decide whether or not he's a fit to sign long term.

Atlanta has no cap room this season and if Smith isn't dealt they really don't have any way of improving their team, who of course just lost in the first round AGAIN. Atlanta has to be getting sick of Smith's shot selection and feel that Horford is in fact their PF of the future, and the star to pair alongside Joe Johnson.

This move with Boston get's them a nice prospect and (depending on how they draft) a possible 2nd nice 1st round talent.... but the most important thing it does is free them up about 11 million dollars in the books next season. ATL could use some of that money to throw decent money at a few young centers entering Unrestricted Free Agency.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

What do you guys think? Too little for Smith? Do other teams have more to offer?

Way too little.  Smith arguably should have been in the ASG over Rondo and the Hawks aren't giving him up for JJJ and both first round picks.

dont we have to match the 13 mil that Smith is making?

i realize we're probably under the cap so maybe the rule wont apply but if that were the case we'd have the renounce the rights to Garnett and Allen.

If I'm wrong Im all for it, because I want nothing to do with trading for Josh Smith unless it is a complete steal

Brandon Bass would HAVE to included in the trade. I wouldnt mind something like (if it works) Brandon Bass and Ray Allen for Smith and Heinrich and maybe throw in a first round or a rookie in there.

Man i don't know if ATL is crazy enough to do this deal but heck yeah I'd do this.

Then either trade him again to get more assets/few players that could help or keep him.

So a guy that really should have been named an All Star this year is seemingly over rated. He put up great numbers this year 18 points and 10 rebounds a game pretty much, which were the best he has had. I think he would be a fantastic addition to the celtics roster.

Can we not just wait until he hits free agency?

Why give up assets for a guy who seems like he genuinely wants to play for Boston anyway?

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

Hawks will never let Horford go unless he gets damage or lost his game.

Wouldn't that also mean the Celtics had to say goodbye to KG to have cap space?

No, I wouldn't do this trade.

No it's not even close... Most teams could offer more.  We have a low 1st round and a player who didn't play fo ru at all for an all star?  Come on now

......and, add to this the fact that he pretty much carried this Atlanta team on his back by himself (Joe, who?....talk about overrated/overpaid) into the playoffs and a decent seeding (5th but with HCA, really 4th).

Josh Smith would thrive here. The climate and culture of the team would fix his poor shot selection. I can see his "buddy" Rondo really getting on his arse the first time he misses one of those ill-advised  shots.

Love to have Josh Smith, but not sure renouncing KG, if that had to be done to accomplish getting Smith, wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me.
