Do you roll the dice on this deal assuming the Bulls would do it. Rajon Rondo, for Taj Gibson And D Rose.

Bulls are Justifiably scared of losing all their progress building a contending team.

With a healthy Rondo they have a core of.

 Rondo
 Hamilton
 Deng
 Boozer
 Noah

Ainge rolls the dice on D Rose. and we come back next year with.

 Rose
 Bradly
 Pierce J Green, I hope
 Gibson Bass
 Garnett, Fab Melo, draft

Would you toss in a first rounder for the chance to land Rose and Gibson.

As Tom Thibodeau, Jerry Reinsdorf, and the entire Bulls organization would say.

I'll give it a day before someone says they'll "do it without a moment's hesitation. Throw in a pick and/or Ray. Rose is absolutely better than Rondo even when he has no knees.".

Has it been a day yet?  Because I certainly wouldn't hesitate...well, I suppose I would take a look at the actual medical reports to make sure the knee isn't worse than it was reported.  But then I run out of the room before they can realize what they did.

Rondo is great...but Rose is a superstar, injury and all.  You might be taking a step back for a year, but this team is in much better shape rebuilding if they have a guy like Rose to build around than Rondo.

Yeah I love Rondo and everything but...I would welcome Mr. Rose with open arms. There's a less than 0% chance Chicago makes it through the offer without cracking up. Gibson is a really good player, there's no way they'd do Rose for Rondo, let alone Rose AND Gibson for Rondo. Rose is a Chicago boy, the perfect face of that franchise and an incredible player.

Rondo just had a better season than Rose.  Injury or no injury.  It's not clear who will be the better player at this point.  What is clear is that D Rose has a monster contract and an question mark for his future.  Rondo literally makes half as much as D Rose.  Also why in the world do we need Gibson?  Potentially next year we have to choose between Bass, Wilcox, Sean Williams, Ryan Hollins, KG, Jeff Green, Stiemsma and JaJuan Johnson.  Why do we need another power forward?
I would consider packaging all our assets (picks, Moore, Johnson, Stiemsma) along with a Bass sign and trade for a top notch big man.  Josh Smith, Dwight Howard, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, Anthony Davis/Jared Sullinger, Greg Monroe etc.  Gibson is a solid role player, but that is the last thing we need to build around.

Maybe if the Chicago GM decided that literally having his body torn apart by fans is a cool way to commit suicide.

It amazes me that someone posted the idea.  We'd probably have to give up Rondo and Bradely to get D-Rose.

The Chicago GM would have to think hard about a Rondo for Rose swap.  Rose is a great player, but Rondo is hardly a step down and he gets out of Rose's contract with his future in question.
But no fan would really be happy with this swap.  Chicago loves Rose and Boston loves Rondo. (except for some around here who seem have an irrational bias against Rondo)

I don't know why some assume an ACL tear to be a death sentence in the NBA.  Players that have suffered them and improved as players afterwards include:

Kyle Lowry in 2004, Baron Davis in college, Al Jefferson in 2009, Al Harrington in 2002, Jamal Crawford in 2001.

I think Chicago will gladly hold onto last year's league MVP while he makes a full recovery.  The reason most of us will take no time in saying this trade isn't workable is because it isn't.  Chicago would hardly consider Rose for Rondo, nevermind throwing in Gibson.  As many have said, we'd need to throw in extras, not them.

Saying he "has no knees" because of an injury that many people have excelled after is a bit of a stretch.  Maybe the Patriots should release Tom Brady because he "has no knees"?

I wouldn't trade Rondo for Rose straight up if I was Ainge.  I guess being the best player in the league when it matters most like Rondo has shown in the first round of the play-offs doesn't amount to much these days.
