I don't know why this bothers me so much but it makes it hard for me to watch the celts games.  There is no excitement at Celtic home games. The crowds at games nowadays are among the worst, if not the worst in the league.  They sit quietly throughout the game, cheering only when the celts score. The place used to rock before tipoff back in 2002-2004.  Now it is such a sterile environment. I prefer watching the celts play on the road just for the atmosphere.  The Garden home court is an advantage only in reputation.  What a shame... Ok rant over

That's because in 2002-2004 the only people who went were core fans. Still, it is far from the worst arena in the league...This kind of happens when you always win an make deep playoff runs.

Celtics home crowd requiers a reason to be energized, unlike other teams.

OKC, Philly etc, cheer for their teams all game no matter what.

If the Celtics dont do well in the first few posessions the crowd goes completely dead.

What crowd is worse? Not even LA has a quieter crowd

Atlanta for starters...I could name at least 10 more.

The Garden crowd has historically been among the rowdiest in NBA history.  This is a recent development.  To me there is nothing worse then pumping myself up all day for a game only to turn on the game and feel like no one else gives a [dang]. Especially the 18,624 who actually paid to be there.  This is why I don't pay to go to the games anymore.

It really varies from game to game.  There are certainly games like that, but there are also many games where the energy in the building is palpable.

Name them. The Atlanta crowds have been 10X rowdier than the Boston crowds in the playoffs and its not even close. Your kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

I think both the crowd and team are looking ahead to the next round, possibly 2 rounds ahead.

Having said that, I do think the prices have reduced the amount of young and hardcore fans. It's a shame.

Seriously? They've barely filled up the arena and half of the fans that are there chear for the Celtics...I'm wondering if we're watching the same games.

I think it's because nobody in Boston respects Atlanta.  When a good team like Miami or LA shows up, so does the Boston crowd.

I was at that game also and it didn't get loud until end of regulation and overtime. If you never went to a playoff game at the beginning if the last decade you probably won't get it. Just watching this game the crows should be carrying the team. Instead they are sitting during a 1 point game in an elimination game

This is flat out untrue, and I say this as someone who was in 2 of the three games here in atlanta.

The crowd might seem loud on tv because they pump in music during the game, and have their announcer starting the chants.

Things are so bad here in Atlanta that there are two sections in the lower bowl that are given for free to Georgia State students if they promise to cheer the whole game.
