Well NE probably got a bargain with Dennard this late, hopefully he stops punching cops lol.
Going just off of what I have seen from him on the field at Nebraska, I think the kid is a steal for the seventh round but the last thing I remember about him was getting kicked out of a game for fighting against South Carolina. So if he punched a cop too, maybe he has some issues.

But the kid is a [dang] good cover corner with some pop run he tackles.
Yeah he'll be a good nickle type corner if he isn't a complete knucklehead at the pro level.

Sounds like a real character guy.  ::)
It was a bar fight out on the street and he stupidly got into the middle of it, he didn't have a ton of red flags in school that got any publicity.
ok...so he punched a cop and got kicked out of a game for fighting. So essentially he's another guy that Rothlisburger makes look like an angel and Meta World Moron makes look like a genius. I like a little nasty on my defense. I like him already

I don't get the WR pick seeing as how we just brought in Donte Stallworth and Lloyd...he better be a heck of a special teamer

You should. He's a steal in the 7th round. I know Faf, Roy and I are all huge Cornhusker fans that watch a lot of NU football and I think we will all agree that based on what he did on the field, he will be a player people here like if he brings the same quality and style of play.

I don't see Stallworth or Ochocinco making this team.

My only fear is he tackles Tebow, punches him in the kidney, mocks him for praying for him, and then the whole team gets smited. But that's pretty much bound to happen anyway

If it were last year they might stand a better chance as DBs. I'm a tad bit intrigued with Robert Gallery. I wonder if Bill will consider sliding him outside to RT or something. My theory is that between Light and Brain Waters one of them retires and one doesn't. We need Light way more. WIth Orhenberg and Koppen coming back and Cannon a year removed from cancer and Vollmer maayyyybbbbeee healthy (and maybe not) things could get interesting.

He'll likely be a practice squad player.

I have to say, I really like the Ebner and Dennard signings.

For Dennard, it's obvious that they are taking on a bit of risk that the kids has anger issues (or whatever you want to call it). But from the sound of it, the majority of the draft class are high character guys, so I'm okay with a "flier" on one of them.

For Ebner, I just love the fact that the dude is a former rugby star (received an MVP award:http://www.buckeyextra.com/content/stories/2011/10/14/gameday/meet-a-buckeye.html ). Sounds like he could be a beast on special teams.

Light is retiring -- I thought he more or less announced a few days before the draft.

I almost feel like there's no such thing as a 7th round draft risk

Agreed come the 7th round you just take a guy who you think may end up being an NFL player.  Doesn't matter what position he plays.
do it

Could someone break it down for me and explain why WAS took another QB?  :o

Odd, to say the least.

I definitely am not the smartest NFL (or NBA) fan out there, but this still seems a bit odd, to me.

Well they cut John Beck immediately after that. You need QBs. You need backups. Injuries happen. It's a little like when the Pats picked Tom Brady when they had Bledsoe and I think John Frieze, and they had just picked a very athletic Michael Bishop the year before. They said the value was so out of wack they had to take him there. If he gets in for like 6 games and does well they can flip him later for a first or second. Two years ago the Panthers picked Jimmy Claussen, then Tony Pike, then the next year got Cam Newton.   You can't have too many QBs in this league

So I guess Ebner is more of a rugby player.  Played 3 whole snaps at safety at Ohio State

Belichik definitely has a thing about projects and unknowns and off the beaten path guys. I think he's the only coach I ever saw use a draft pick on a long snapper.

Also both Ebner and Tavon WIlson lost parents at young ages.

I played football years ago in high school as I am sure many here have. Its a tough sport. But if there are a couple of other sports that translate over and would make one think a person could excel at certain areas of football, those sports are rugby and wrestling.

If you've played rugby and been successful at it, you probably will make a great special teams player, running back linebacker or safety. If you've wrestled and excelled at it(amateur wrestling that is) and are big enough, you probably will make a great lineman.

I like the fact Ebner was a great rugby player and has some great speed times. Bodes well for his chances of making the team, INHO.
