I just can't see how Crowder isn't a 1st round pick. Just read this article on him.

http://painttouches.com/2012/04/23/jae-crowder-path-to-the-nba/

This article point to the fact that Crowder is working with the goal of being an NBA 2. He will make a great complimentary bench 3/2 player. He has already shown to have a bruce bowen like skill set (great D, and can hit open 3s).He also has the added bonus that he is going to be stronger then 95% of the 3s in the nba and is an above average rebounded.

Well, I think the question is whether he is quick enough to be that kind of defender on the wing.  And that is kind of hard to see, at least from what I have seen of him in college.  I think individual workouts will be big for him.  If he can get into some workouts with quicker wings, and can stay in front of them, he will probably move up into the first round.

I agree he says in the article that he played at 240lbs this past season and is going to trim down to 220 for the draft. It will be interesting to seem if the 20lbs make him alot quicker.

He's not worth a first round pick in this years draft.  There's a lot of talent this year, he's a 6'6 guy who really doesn't have a position at the NBA level yet.  I think he could be a solid role player, maybe someone like Ryan Gomes, but not much more then that.  For where we're picking we'll just be able to pick guys who have more potential, sure they'll have a higher bust possibility, but we need to try to hit one out of the park.  A guy like Royce White may be out of the league in 5 years, but he could also be an all-star in 5 years.

With two picks in the first I can see taking a high potential/likely bust type player with one pick. With the other pick the Cs need to look at players like Crowder, J Taylor, D Green. Guys who will at least be solid roles players for year in the league. The spurs do a great job drafting and seldom do they take chances on "high potential players'.

I'd take him with a second round pick.  First round?  No thanks.

The spurs have done well drafting, but I don't think they knock it out of the park every time.  They havn't needed high potential guys in the past, but they did take one this year in Leonard.  They did that because they know the time of Tim Duncan and Manu is coming to an end and they need young athletic guys who can fill that void.  If I had to bet they'll try to draft another high potential guy this year.  That's what the celtics need, we needed role players in the past.  Now we need guys who are going to be able to run and play with Rondo.  If it means we end up with two busts, so be it, at least they tried.

Here is why?   2 Jucos to get to division one.  Not super athletic relies more on his brawn than explosiveness and he will not be super brawny the next level.  Does not play above the rim either.  Lacks ability to create his own shot.  Will be playing three in pros and lateral quickness will be an issue.

He could make it but sounds like a huge gamble.   Smarts and intelligence and grit are important though.

Would DeMarre Carroll be a good comparison for Jae Crowder in the NBA?
