Uh Ray's just human like everyone else.  And do you know him personally to even make an educated opinion here?  I'm sure at least 95%+ of people would not be happy about almost being traded from a place where you have openly said you wanted to stay, and by being demoted to second string.

I think the people who are saying there is no substance to this story are the ones who are off their rockers.  Article says his demeanor has changed over the past few weeks.  I'm sure people who are constantly around the team (such as the reporters) can see that.

Now from the C's point of view; if they want AB to start next year well autoamtically means a lower salary offer to Ray.  It won't be an issue of not wanting him, but more so of not wanting to pay him.

  • You say when......
Well...if he does feel that way....it is normal...as in.." Every time we say it is a sport, YOU say it is a business!" From "North Dallas Forty".....but, both are true....it is not like /Ray would get layed off and go on unemployemnt like a regular joe.....age...is a terrible thing....don't ask me how i know...! I still say starting is an ego thing.....playing should be about coaching, matchups, coaches deception vs the other coach....Ray on the 2nd unit is working great.....he might start somewhere else....but not for much longer...call and ask "The Human HighLight Film" Dominique..Wilkins..! I STILL LOVE RAY for his game, attitude, and professionalism...all things not many have these days....!

ORRRRRRRRRRR........

His demeanor has changed because he is in pain and because he knows this is the last hurrah for this team and he is frustrated about being injured knowing he might never be able to help this team win another championship.

Or it could be a combination of both.

OR...this is complete B.S.  Ray knows the NBA.  He's played for 3 teams.  He's been traded before.  He's 36, on the last year of an expensive deal.  And he's by all accounts a great guy.

I say B.S.

One report says Ray feels slighted by a demotion to the bench.

Yet Doc Rivers (in a clip during one of the recent Celtics telecasts on national TV) has said that Ray came to him about moving to the bench in favor of Bradley starting: i.e., it was Ray's suggestion.

Something doesn't jive here.

Early humans saw rain. They clearly saw rain, they all agreed there was rain. But just because some of them speculated it was God crying doesn't mean it was God crying.

And that's what this is..speculation without any evidence to back it up.

Agreed.

How come any player be happy when he's obviously not feeling 100% and unable to play? At least, a competitive sports person like Ray won't be. And he isn't.
This article is absolute trash in my eyes. Ray is not only one of the greatest shooters in the history of NBA, but also has a professional attitude few players had, so, I don't buy into this. His statement was about his minutes when he first moved to the bench, and he has averaged 31.8 minutes as a substitute, only 2.5 minutes lower than his 34.3 average as a starter, which is a very small amount of decrease. But if his ankles continue to limit his mobility (hopefully this won't be the case in the playoffs), his production will not satisfy Ray himself, regardless of him being a starter or not.

According to this report
Mayo didn't want to play for Celtics
http://www.necn.com/04/19/12/Mayo-on-Celtics-I-dont-care-about-the-ba/landing_sports.html?blockID=692434&feedID=3352

Really interesting for a player that doesn't even get much of a recognition from a small market team like Memphis.

Mayo seems like the kind of guy who wants to go a team that will both start him and give him a big contract.  The Celtics are not and should not be that sort of team.

If Ray knew about this back when it happened why would he be feeling slighted these past couple of weeks?

The article is stupid. It should have began "in my opinion".
