This seems like a lot of bull. "Theres a lack of regard between management and players"...The relationship between Danny and the players sems as good as ever and these statements seems like drama some writer is trying to stir up just like with the Rondo/ Gasol trade talk. Danny did what any sane GM would do when his team is not playing well. Fortunately, no trades went down, and the team has come together in a beautiful way, but this stuff just seems like stupid exxagerations.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Here is what I wrote in the other thread this was mentioned:

shoulda traded him when we had a shot.  Hopefully he gets healthy and makes some kind of impact in the playoffs.

That's an entire article with absolutely nothing corroborating the article's premise aside from the author's speculation. That is just absolute hot garbage. Shame on ol Gary Washburn.

Its a terrible article.

Common move by the media to stir things up a little bit.

When you lose, the easy part is to see who gives up. Giving up is very simple. You basically take your stuff and walk away. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially when you really don't have anything - KG

I suggest reading the original piece, its speculation by Washburn to stir things up.

I can see Ray going elsewhere, especially if the C's want to cut into his role for Bradley and others. But not becuase he was almost traded. He's been through this before with Ainge.

Its not the speculation about Ray potentially signing elsewhere, its the insinuation that Ray like doesnt like the organization or doesnt want to be on the team that p---es me off.

Common move by the media to fire thing up a little bit.

Yea. This may affect Ray's future but for this season it isn't a problem and won't be. Ray is no Dwight Howard.

I read that piece, and thought I'd wandered into some sort of sports-related editorials/opinion section of the Globe.

The only reason for the problem is the organization's respect for Ray. If the organization had less respect for him, they wouldn't warn him of the move until it was done. Since they value him and don't want him learning from the press, Doc makes the personal phone call.

That's my perspective at least.

Not even a direct quote from an unnamed source?

Just stating outwardly what Ray Allen is thinking without even quoting Allen?

What type of cowardly journalism is that?

If you are going to write an op-ed piece at least pass it off as one. You are a beat writer Gary, not a columnist.

they can offer him a no trade clause in his next contract, i wouldn't bring him back with if kg retires or signs elsewhere.

Agreed.  Ray hasn't pouted publicly, and there's no indication that he's complained to the team or become a distraction.  If he's a little miffed, I can't blame him, but this article doesn't even use any sourced quotes to explain what Ray is feeling.

Of course he would - can't think of any player in his situation who wouldn't feel slighted...to put it nicely.

if i was traded and told to pack my bags by my coach, then was told the deal is gone and id be back, then lost my starting job... i would feel "slighted" too.

what they dont mention in the article is a) if any quote came from ray or whereabouts the quote was from in the first place.... and b) how ray will do whatever it takes for his team to win.

With the money he's making, I doubt he feels slighted in anything.

It's not like he's out of the loop.  You can call Ainge many things, but being bad at communication isn't one of those things.  Ainge will tell a player straight up how it is, how it's going to be, and will not hide anything.

Since the arrival of Ainge, everybody is on the same page.  Everybody knows where they stand.
