I don't think not wanting your family on reality tv is scummy.

Now his conduct beyond that clearly hasn't been good. (hence all the kids with different mothers)

I don't think not wanting your young children paraded around on TV for some contrived reality show based on their promiscuous dad makes you a bad parent or a bad person.

There might be plenty of other evidence for both of those, but this seems completely reasonable.

Yep. There is a clear group of scumbags in this situation, and it sure as hell isn't Cromartie. If you can't get by on with $42,000 a year in child support alone, you don't deserve to have a kid, let alone get paid more to be an idiot on television. Get a real Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing job to pay the bills of what is clearly a lifestyle above your means. Even if these women didn't work, they should be pretty much able to get by.

Oh, I don't know. Seems to me that there is a whole heapin helpin of contempt that could be ladled out here.

Having 10 kids with 8 different woman doesn't push the dad too far up my "good human being chart."
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

He's a piece of dirt, but not because of this.  I think a lot of responsible parents (which Cromartie isn't) would think twice about allowing reality television to exploit their children.

Why do you assume he isn't a responsible parent?  He is paying child support after all.  Having that many kids with that many women makes you irresponsible, but it doesn't make your a irresponsible parent.

And that clip from Hard Knocks was completely fabricated.  He listed his children off correctly and quickly on the first take, but he said the names so fast HBO asked him to slow it down and do multiple takes.  HBO then edited to make him look bad in the version that aired.  Given his experiences on Hard Knocks can you really blame the man for not wanting his children to be on reality tv.  Seems like the responsible thing to do.

While paying child support doesn't make somebody a good parent (it's simply meeting a minimal legal obligation), from what I understand Cromartie fell behind on his support to the point of needing a $500k advance.  To me, not paying support falls into the realm of being an irresponsible parent (as does having, at one point, 8 children by 9 women).

I agree.  It looks like it would be the mothers trying to take advantage of him.  I have no problem with him saying no.
do it

Exactly.  I actually think this is a step in the right direction for him.  What is scummy is the mothers trying to turn their kids into paychecks (well, more than they already get from him).

Haha.  There are plenty of humorous responses that fit here, but I'll just admit to a typo.  9 by 8.
