Looks like were in another Perkins situation this off season!

As I said above, we have a team option for next season (it's at about 1M $). The Steamboat stays here, if Danny wants him.

Qualifying offer not team option

It's going to take a while because NBA refs are unprofessional idiots. Two years, minimum, for these cabbageheads to figure out that he doesn't deserve the rookie treatment.

And David Stern sleeps well at night...

Earlier in the year, I read that it was a team option, but according to Shamsports, you are right. Dang. I would love to have him locked for one more season :)

He'll be back unless he gets some kind of ridiculous offer elsewhere.  Which I don't think he will.

I move that the first step in the "Respect Stiemsma" campaign should be spelling his name correctly.    :D

The ref's respect surely will follow once we've mastered this.
Yup

You know, I'm going to come at this another way because I was actually thinking about this earlier.

If steisma got ANY respect at all from other players, he wouldn't have as many blocks as he has now.  That is, I've never seen so many guys go straight at a shot blocker like they do on steisma.  Me thinks everyone is just trying to dunk on the white boy.

I dont mind the stemer fouling out at all. I just HATE!!!!! it when they call him for p**s weak fouls other bigs and players get away with all the time.

He can become a solid NBA rotation player and defensive presence and will only get better when the time comes. Can also knock down a close to mid range shot :D

Never know. Even if teams line of for him with big offers. Steamer might just take the Celtics offer because it's the Celtics.

No one is going to line up for him with big offers, as he is a 26-y.o. rookie whose only season is playing reserve minutes beside one of the best defenders in the league.

And he should take the biggest offer he gets - he is the definition of a journeyman.  Nothing is guaranteed in life.

Having said that - Danny has to match anything under $3M.

Its amazing how many fouls Steamah gets called for. Its like they blow the whistle before he even gets to the man.

  • You say when......
The other thing steamer adds without even realizing it is defensive leadership....now the whole team is energized about short blocking.....everyone is triyng to do it.....Hollis and JJJ are definite candidates for being good blockers too...they are everywhere with a lot of energy. Can't wait to see them turn the corner and be more players..!

I have admittedly not watched that many Celtic games (I live in Ohio), but the games I've watched where Stiemsma has played, he commits a lot of fouls.  I'm sure there are some ticky tack fouls here and there, but most of the calls are warranted.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

The thinng you might be missing on the steamer calls is that they are not the same in any manner.....IF they call them on him in that fashion, you'd think they then call them on all, and everyone...but that is not the case....It is mostly him, then no other bigs in the same way....THAT is the problem...but then THAT is the WHOLE problem with the NBA...we are actually here to only support the refs ego and lifestyle.....and they are a union....ooops.

I am not against unions, but they exist to protect workers, NOT control the workings...!

Your impression is correct.

He's fouling at 6.7 fouls per 36 and most of them are legitmate whacks by Greg.

reading this thread you would think he was getting called for all these phantom and ticky tack fouls, and I just wasn't seeing it.  Glad to see I wasn't the only one.
