Seriously? I haven't seen someone blow so many shots in a long time. If the refs even gave him a modicum of respect that they give other well known bigs, he might lead the league in BPG.

Hes one of the best shot blockers in the league already. He definately has found his place in the NBA, and wont be going anywhere else.

I predict lots of teams will be lining up to sign him over the off-season.

How good of a shot blocker would Steimsma be if he got any respect ...

or consistent minutes. I've been shocked on how many times Doc went small when he had Steamer as an option.

***I know he has gotten more consistent minutes lately. But only because injuries. How could a guy who plays defense this well be stuck on the bench all year? The kid is averaging 13.6 minutes a game and is 22nd in total blocks.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

What are the chances the Celtics will not attempt to resign him or match or surpass the offers of other teams.

Finding a player who is defensively minded, has some athleticism and scoring abilities especially for his position isn't exactly trivial.

I really hope the C's can bring him back on a fair contract. You never know though. Big men are so overpaid in this league.

He is a good second stringer no doubt.   He continues to gain confidence as well.   He is better than ANY big on the Heat except Bosh and hes a better defender than Bosh too.

We have a team option on him for next season.

Never know. Even if teams line of for him with big offers. Steamer might just take the Celtics offer because it's the Celtics.

Doc is a fair coach , and I expect Greg likes all Doc and C's have done to help his career,  my guess he'll stay and be loyal.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
One of the best things Doc has done to Steimsma is telling him to not be afraid to foul. When he racks up fouls, he toughens the defense.

I like Marcus Smart

I think next year will be telling.

Next year, he'll be a vet, with a bit more recognition from the refs. They'll know that he's a shotblocker, and give him a bit more respect.

He needs to come back next year. I hope Danny can do something. He is still getting better. He still has a year or two to go to reach his ceiling, IMO.

Even better, and that's a scary thought.

When will they learn;  you don't drive into the paint with Greg Stiemsma back there.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
