I'm not dismissive of him. He's a good player. He just doesn't play very good defense, we don't need him as much any more, and AB surpassed him. Truth doesn't mean we're throwing him under the bus.
But I admit I am not always the biggest fan of players that have things handed to them that they don't deserve any more. He and JON were getting playing time they didn't deserve.
He had a great run, but it's time for him to transition to back up.
I agree.
The main issue was that having Ray in the starting lineup didnt mesh well anymore.
Doc was clearly trying to establish KG, Bass and Pierce early because they are the easiest to get going.
Ray requires plays called for him and he has to run around screens which eats up shot clock time. Doc decided to just scrap the Ray offensive schemes and simplify the offense and just get our 3 big guns going early, and have Ray come off the bench and get his points being a main option.
We really dont lose anything by moving Ray to the bench, but we gain speed, youth, defense and athleticism by shifting Bradley into his place.
Its really a win/win situation for both players and our team.
Ray Allen isnt Ray Allen, hes 37 and way past his prime, time for people to judge the player off what hes currently capable of doing at this age, not what he did 10 years ago.
