KG have a good shot at DPOY?

I say definitely yes especially if we keep going at this rate. Nothing earth shattering considering he was second last year but I think with the Dwight debacle and how good our defense has been I think KG has a good shot.

I know Bradley has had a pretty positive effect on the team D but looking at what KG is holding his matchups to is pretty remarkable as well

Yes he does, if the C's end the year as the number one defense and capture the 3/4 seed while the Magic fall to the 6/7 seed.

Though given how the media loves "storylines" I wouldn't be suprised to see Chandler get it out of New York love.

He absolutely deserves to be considered.  I would even say he should be the front-runner.

He won't get considered though.  The media has already long ago written him off as old and decrepit.  On top of that, he doesn't put up flashy numbers in the box score.  His rebounding numbers are a little low, and he doesn't get a lot of blocks.  People get way too fascinated with blocks.

Ibaka's not on the upper tier.  This is a race between KG and Dwight Howard, with honorable mentions for Chandler, LeBron, TA, Iggy, Marion and Luol Deng.

I don't think he'll win but Serge Ibaka will definitely be in the top 2 or 3.  Statistical dominance is the biggest factor in voting and the kid had 3 10 block games in the same month.

He's easily a future DPOY.

Depends on how fed up the media are of giving Dwight Howard the award.

I think Kevin Garnett and Tyson Chandler are Dwight's two biggest challengers. I don't think any of the perimeter players have done enough to take it from the bigs.

Do you guys truly believe he has an excellent shot at receiving the award? Whether he is in the discussion is one thing, but as far as how the media will portray him and who the general NBA wants view as the DPOY is not going to be KG.

Feldman: Dwight Howard. Howard's defense has probably slipped a bit, but so what? That's not the bar. He should be competing against other NBA players, not himself. Howard might be closer to his peers this season, but his ability to protect the rim and defend the pick-and-roll is still unmatched.

Haberstroh: Tyson Chandler. For some reason, the national audience seems to think that the Knicks' problems this season were defensive-oriented. That couldn't be further from the truth. The Knicks jumped from the bottom 10 in defensive efficiency ranks last season to top-five this season and they've been among the best all season. The reason for the meteoric rise? Chandler.

Herbert: LeBron James. This is Dwight Howard's award to lose every year and, this year, I'm afraid he has lost it. James gets it for guarding all five positions and dominating games defensively whenever he feels like it.

Jackson: Dwight Howard. It may seem like old hat at this point, but no one affects the game defensively as much as Howard.

Young: Tony Allen. While Serge Ibaka leads the league in blocked shots -- the most widely recognized defensive stat -- he's most definitely not the Defensive Player of the Year. Maybe the Defensive Player Most Out of Position of the Year. Allen changes games with his handsy, aggressive, physical defense. Even the fastest players -- Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Tony Parker -- can't get around him.

The fact that not a single of of them even mention KG speaks volumes to me.  KG just isn't viewed the same anymore.  Obviously, this is a small sample size, but I don't think it is very far off from the overall perception the mainstream media has of KG.

I would like to think so, but no - not really.  Dwight is receiving MVP Consideration so Im sure he'll take another DPOY with little challenge.  Tony Allen will probably be behind him.
