Who is better or are they equally good?? Kobe once stated something along the lines that T. Allen was the best/toughest defender he played against. During the playoffs a few years back we saw T. Allen normalize a taller and stronger lebron james game.

Bradley these days is getting praise left and right.

Hard to say. Also other than these two excellent defensive guards , is/are there any better defensive guards/s forwards in the nba?

Tony is a better defender, more length, more proven track record, more ability to guard multiple positions (1-3), and more respect from the refs probably.

Though I wouldn't be suprised if Bradley was better against smaller quicker players or at pressuring the ball coming up the court.

Thabo Sefolosha and Arron Afflalo are both excellent defenders at SG.

I think you say Tony Allen just based on how long he's been able to do it.  Bradley is just seeing the court now at 21, so its tough to compare.

If I'm comparing them both at the same age of 21, I'd have to say Bradley is and will become the better overall defender.

I'd add Ronnie Brewer and Jared Dudley to that list as well, although both been a little below the norm this year. You've also got the stars, like Kobe, Wade, Iggy.

TOny is old and slick and a bit underhanded .

Avery has ALOT more years ( his best ) ahead of him,  lets review this question in 5/10 years.

I'll take Tony against bigger players and Bradley against smaller ones.

I have to agree with this.

I don't think TA can hound a point guard the way Bradley does, but Bradley can't defend bigger guards and wings like Tony can. Tony can defend wings better simply because he's bigger and stronger. Tony is a tankish 6'4 very strong and long, Avery is a wiry 6'2 or 6'3. I don't know if Bradley can put on the same type of size that Tony has, but if he can he will be a force.

I agree, but have to give Avery credit for how much bigger he is this year than last year. Keep hitting the weight room, young man.

If you're listing the top defensive guards, you can't leave Rondo off the list.

Allen.  Bradley has a lot to prove yet, plus Tony is always going to be able much more versatile with his size

preferences:
Bradley: against PGs and quick SGs
Allen: Against SFs and power SGs (i.e. Wade)

i don't mind bradley on wade either. We all saw how normal wade was with bradley on him.

Impressed by ability to defend guys even 3 inches taller than him.

Bradley tires you out on both end of the court. Kid is in amazing shape

I would have to say Allen based on experience.

Since Allen is bigger he has the ability to guard three positions, however, bradley is a bit quicker and can be a pest against smaller guards.

Wade is a smaller SG, and when he did have success against Bradley it was in the post.

Gordon Hayward also just shot right over the top of Bradley, his length and quickness allow him to guard SGs but size matters too.

Though in Bradley's case it appears to mostly show up in his rebounding numbers.
