Agreed. He's going to be a fixture on All-Defensive teams.

He'll be a good player in the NBA no doubt. Great? Lets wait and see.

I was listening to analysts after their final four game and I didn't know he grew 8 inches in high school.

I think his floor is Marcus Camby and he's likely to wind up somewhere between a rich man's Camby and a poor man's Bill Russell.  If his jumper catches up with his growth spurt he could be great.

If he loses the unibrow and get some braces :)

but yeh I also think he has a lot of potential, even though he didn't score much today, but 15 rebounds and 6 blocks is amazing!, I feel if he can pack some muscles he can be a top 5 center in the league pretty soon (of course not right away, but the ceiling is there)

I dont have a valid Opinion because i dont follow college Ball, but im told he Is better than Kevin love or Blake griffin RIGHT NOW, utterly dominant defensively and could have an instant Dwight Howard-like impact on whatever team is lucky enough to get him.

If the Cavs land him... I might put money on them winning a title in 4 years.  Between he and Kyrie Irving (phenom)... forget it.

No. Not correct.

He is a GREAT shot blocker and rebounder but he's also allowed to camp in the paint for as long as he wants and he is DEFINITELY nowhere near kevin love right now.

He is a great talent.  Lot's of people knock on him for being super skinny, but the kid grew from like half a foot in a year, so I would expect him to be skinny.  I definitely think he will put on mass.

The Marcus Camby similarities I think are uncanny.  Both had late growth spurts, played for Calipari, are tall, gangly, skinny and exquisite shotblockers.  Davis is a much better rebounder than Camby was at the same age but Camby grew into a fabulous rebounder in the NBA; at his projected peak, I don't think Davis is going to rate as a better rebounder.

Davis has the higher peak because his outside stroke looks better but it's a not shoo-in that he becomes more than an average scorer.  He's shown glimpses of moves at Kentucky but a ridiculous amount of his points have come from alley-oops.  He'd still have a monster impact because of his defense even if his offense isn't all that.

If he showed great passing skills, I could see the Garnett comparisons but he hasn't shown that kind of ability yet.  He has Garnett's motor but Garnett's passing was a big part of his special package.  I'd say Davis is a much better shotblocker though.

Fair enough.  I don't know enough about the kid.  I just know he averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4.6 blocks, 1.3 steals with 64% shooting as a Freshman... and lead his team to a 38-2 record and a national championship.  Seems pretty impressive.

Griffin as a freshman 14.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1 steal .85 blocks 57% shooting

Love as a freshman 17.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.4 blocks .7 steals 56% shooting

Neither won a title.  The people buzzing about Davis are probably speaking more about his defensive ability.  There was a lot of talent on that team... the low scoring output and high FG% might be because of that... but defense wins championships.  Perhaps Love and Blake are better than him right now... but probably not on the defensive end.

I'm also told Davis is the 2nd coming of Tim Duncan and a "franchise changer": http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/220240/Scout_Davis_Will_Be_A_Franchise_Changer

ALso heard his ceiling was "poor man's Russell".  Anyone spend a lot of time watching him this season?  Does he remind anyone of a young KG?  KG was about the same size as a rookie.  Similar height, weight and wingspan.

Edit:  Found this quote:
Quote
Though his slender frame remains an issue, his relentless work ethic, budding post presence and 7-foot-4 wingspan are nearly unparalleled.

"My comparison for him is always Kevin Garnett," the scout said. "He got bigger and stronger, but he never got to 275 or anything, and I don't think [Davis] will get there either. He'll probably be more of a jump shooter, defender, shot-blocker, rebounder and capable scorer. I think his future is unlimited."

Put simply: Davis has the makings of a franchise player and should be considered a top pick candidate heading into the June draft.

most loaded draft in a decade, and he's in his own league ahead of the draft.

now he's a national champion to add to his resume. the awards never stop with him.

There isn't, unless Rondo gets traded to some team that Davis gets drafted by.
