Easily the best 4 guards in the league. best passer, great cutter, elite  and great defenders, best off the ball shooter, great shot creater and excellent Isolation player. you have a great mix of complimentary players that could mix and match for different situations and results. maximize rivers shooting ability with rondos passing, etc.

why settle for 2 mediocre 17 and 20 picks when we can get a potential star and an extension of doc rivers on the floor.  besides  if we used all 3 picks we would have 3 rookies and the two purdue kids who havent done much. that would be like 5 rookies all trying to get playing time.

then we would have our guard situation locked up basically, and we can look at free agents exclusively for centers/bigs. Ue all the cap space to sign a great athletic center or 2 at big 1 year deals and see what we can do.

Austin Rivers is nowhere close to being worth 2 1st rounders.

Somehow, I think Danny and his scouting staff already knows this.  I doubt there is even a notion of this going on right now.

I agree it might be the best situation to trade up for one legit player. After the recent winning streak the C's currently have the 22nd and 23rd pick. If there is any way to trade our draft picks and maybe JJJ to move up to around 15 I think I would do it , depending on who was still left to draft.

i saw the kid play..and i don't see the big deal..he was sort of a ball hog, and he turned it over a lot..maybe just the one game..but he is just another guard...is he great..i don't see it...the Celtics need another big man or 2, or 3.....if they can get them........i heard his interview....you thought rondo was cocky....this kid is 19..and in his interview, he was so proud of himself, and only himself..and all HE did...ya WOW, a big 19 years......and a father coaching that kid...hardly would work...spoiled..and he wouldn't listen...he wasn't even wearing a Celtics hat at his fathers teams game.....

I agree that we will try and package our picks if we have two late firsts. However, I'm not sure how many spots the two picks would move us up. If we can get an acceptable move up opportunity we'll use it to get a big, not Austin Rivers.

I think it is more likely (and probably smarter) for Ainge to trade down and acquire a future first round pick.  I don't think we can really predict what Ainge will do until the season is over and he has a chance to work out players and better evaluate talent.  He usually gets locked onto specific players and tries to get them as cheap as possible and it's hard to tell right now if he is in love with any prospect.

I don't think they trade up for Rivers. But if our 1st round picks are 22nd and 23rd, I could see Danny trading one of them to Cleveland for their late 1st and early 2nd. Something like the 23rd for the 26th and 38th could work if Cleveland could get a player they wanted, and Danny sees more value in trading down.

In that scenario, Celtics would have #22, #26 and #38, plus their own 2nd rounder (#52) and with lots of luck, #45 from Milwaukee. 2nd round pick(s) could be traded or used to draft international players with upside, like San Antonio or Houston usually do.

Doron Lamb/Festus Ezeli/Draymont Green/Tony Mitchell/Jae Crowder  with #26 and #38

Maybe Jeff Withey/Quincy Acy/Will Barton/Yancy Gates are available at the middle of the 2nd round. International guys like Satoransky, Shengeila or Aldemir could be the best options at that point.

I hope Danny can get his players on this draft, and get gems like Bradley.

that would be nice. but the problem, of course, is that so many other teams would like to do the same thing.

i guess my question at this point is what is the different, talent-wise between a 14 pick and a 28 pick? if this is a deep draft, does that mean that the talent level is pretty much the same for the bottom half of the draft?

if so, then moving up or down may not be a prime motive for ainge.

i am looking forward to see what ainge does this draft. i suspect he will be moving around on draft day. maybe he will buy a first round pick if one is available.

Picks 21-30 in the past decade or so have turned up three marginal all stars, and very few top rotation players.  I wouldn't trade the 12th pick for the 22 and 24th, for example, even in a deep draft.  If some team is hungry with quantity over quality, more power to them, and Ainge would probably be ready to oblige them/

If I'm Ainge and I've decided to trade two first rounders in this years very deep draft, I'm also throwing JJJ in with those picks and trying to get a top 10 pick big man like Andre Drummond or Jared Sullinger or Tyler Zeller
