Otis Smith jumping off Disney's Tower of Terror would help.

Otherwise, the Magic have one of the worst cap situations in the NBA and must rely on some one wanting to go there on the cheap.  Good luck with that.  If you're Nash, do you go there or Miami for the MLE?

Gotta clear the decks down there.  Don't think DH sticks around through it.  No way to bring value back with what they have to offer.  Pretty much screwed.

I like the idea of bringing Nash over, but it'll never happen.  Nelson isn't the PG for them.  Could he play SG?  Prob not.  To the bench for him if he sticks around.

I probably try to trade Jason Richardson with BBD and Duhon and a pick/money for Joe Johnson.  Major upgrade right there.

I play Turk at PF and Reddick at SF.

Best case:

Nash
JoeJohnson
Reddick
Turkoglu
DHoward

Bench:

Anderson
Nelson
VWafer

Relocate them to Seattle and hire me as GM

Then I would trade Dh to Boston for Greg Stiesma and Sasha Pavlicic.

Trade Jameer Nelson and Hedonism Turkoglu to Phoenix for Lopez, Steve Nash, and Grant Hill.

Then I turn around and engineer a three way by trading Nash, Redick, Lopez, and Ryan Anderson to the Clippers, the Clippers send Chris Paul and Blake Griffen to Boston, Boston sends me Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Jermaine Oneal, and Chris Wilcox.

Honestly, why are we interested in helping the Magic?

Redick is 6'4, 190....definitely not big enough to cover big eastern conference SF's, not to mention he's just not a good enough player to start consistently in the NBA.

Turkoglu trying to guard the 4 would be equally as disastrous.

I think you start out by assuming D12 is leaving town next offseason and start the year by trying to trade him. There were 2-3 teams willing to rent him this year, the Warriors and the Rockets were 2 of them. I think if they can get a couple of 1st rounders and 2 starting players for Dwight this year they should do it. Houston might still be willing to give up Scola and Martin for D12 and maybe throw in a pick or two this year. Houston picks twice in the 1st round this year and twice in the second round. For a stacked draft like this it might be worth going full rebuild.

Another reason to get Howard out of town is that it seems like the Magic have given him control of their franchise. That is a really poor decision considering he never went to college and doesn't seem particularly mature, even for his relatively young age. Getting players who want to play for your coach is a positive step in the right direction imo.

If the Houston trade went down like DH for Martin/Scola/1st the rosters would look something like:

Houston

PG - Lowry/Dragic
SG - Lee/Rookie
SF - Moris/Parsons
PF - Patterson/Rookie
C - Howard/Dalembert

Note: I would start both Howard and Dalembert together similar to what the Lakers do.

Orlando:

PG - Nelson/Duhon
SG - Martin/Reddick
SF - Richardson/Clark
PF - Anderson/Davis (resign Anderson)
C - Scola/Rookie (they would NEED to draft or sign a center in FA)

If Houston would go for that I don't see why Orlando wouldn't try maximize the return of getting players who actually want to play for their coach instead of ones pout on the bench.

Also for the record I think Otis Smith is a pretty okay GM. He's made some stupid moves but it's tough to be a GM and not do that. He seems like an okay guy and while I expect Dolan to take his spot in Orlando I'm sure he'll be in some teams front office pretty quickly afterwards.

Trade Turk and two firsts to Boston (or some other team with cap space)

Trade Nelson to some team who has cap space for a 2nd round pick.

Let Redick go to get cap space.

Sign Deron Williams as a free agent.

Sign Ryan Anderson to a long term contract (after you sign Deron).

Will they have the cap space to do that? They're what...12 million over the cap now? Hedo+Nelson is like...18? Reddick is another..6? And he doesn't come off the books until 2013.

Plus, wouldn't they have to renounce rights to Ryan ANderson to clear the room to offer Deron Williams a spot?

(keep in mind, my CBA is conversational, not fluent)
Anderson's cap hold is only like 4 million because of what his salary is, so they don't need to renounce him.

They are at like 68 million next year (with Anderson).  Dumping Hedo, Nelson, and Redick, drops 25 million, which puts them at 43 million (or so).  That would start Deron at around 14 million.  They can decline Von Wafer's option to get another million, which puts Deron at like 15 million to start.  That is probably enough if Deron really wants to play with Dwight that badly and wouldn't mind doing so in Orlando (which I'm not sure is a given).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I agree with the having Otis jump off a bridge post but why do we care about making Orlando better?

By pointing out how Orlando can improve, we can laugh when their front office demonstrates its incompetence by failing to do as we suggest.

I would trade Howard at the draft.  If not, next season will be like this for Orlando.  Just waiting for the other shoe to drop.  I would try to get the best possible package of this year and next year draft picks as well as young people.
Mock Deadline Denver Nuggets
Nurcic/Henson
Patterson/Bennett/Arthur
Ross/Budinger
Miller/Hunter/Foye
Rubio/Ennis/Bayless

It isn't so much about making Orlando better as it is about keeping Dwight in Orlando and away from a team like the Lakers or Mavs where he would make them far better than anything Orlando would be.

True this...as long as DH is down there and not on the Lakers , I'm content.

Having Howard at Orlando , is like containing him in box where he can't get out and do harm.
